Reviews for "Little Thing"

realy? front page?

obviously a ripoff of "the company of myself" but worse. also the game is extremely glitchy and the litle thing jumps and moves sloooow

Well...

Normally I don't really care if games overlap each other, even if the gameplay might be stolen but... I'm sorry this game seems like such a ripoff off "the game The company of myself". Even the text seems like it's taken right off the other game. Sorry man, I think you might have some potential, but please try to be more creative in future games.

Fun game!

I dont see how this is a ripoff of company of one, just because it happens to involve a lonely protangonist. Good work mate.

Boo-effin'-hoo.

What are you crying about? Not everyone agreed that your game deserves front page and daily 2nd? Cry me a river.

It IS true that you didn't invent this concept. The game itself is not particularly appealing graphically and it's full of bugs.

What are you crying about? If you don't like it, stop making games, we won't miss you.

Let's be serious here for a second...

I'm going to try to avoid focusing on the fact that this is basically just a rehash of Company of Myself because it's been said. All I'm going to say about it is that they are completely right, the two have the same feel and concepts as a game. Except for a couple things. Namely, that game was pulled off a whole lot better.
There were a ton of bugs in this game... In many places my clones fell right through the screen then I would inexplicably go on to the next stage. Lots of the time I wouldn't be moving and the produced clone would be rolling instead of sitting and on more then one occasion I lost the ability to move randomly and completely. Yes, all of these are remedied by a quick restart but they add a lot of frustration.
The puzzles were decently designed... however I never once had to think about it for more then a few seconds. The real challenge from this game was seemingly unintentional. That being the little roll feature... you have no idea how many times I ligned up for a jump and had to waste fifteen seconds trying to get him stopped in the right position, or would accidentally roll right off the side. It was annoying and fairly unnecessary. Though I do agree that circular objects do tend to roll, it was an element that added nothing to the game, in the least you could have lessened it. As well, jumping onto the moving clones wasn't pulled off as well as it could have been... maybe as soon as you land on them you keep moving along with them? Its an idea, take it or leave it.
Another note, though this one is definitely my bad, is that an autosave feature would be nice in a game like this, or at least an option to choose from levels you have beaten... I accidentally clicked a link on the last level and didn't actually get to see the ending as I didn't want to play through the whole thing again...
All in all this isn't a bad game for its gameplay... the gameplay has a lot of room to improve but it isn't what left me with a sour feeling. First off, you're trying to create an atmosphere here... the music pulls that off nicely, the story does a decent job of creaing it as well. However when I came to one of the last levels you had an advertisement. You had a freaking shameless plug for your company right in the smack midde of the game. I wouldn't care if you said at the end "Oh thanks for playing, check out more stuff at blank.com" or even a link on the side but you did it right in the middle of my screen pretending its somehow relevant to the game. To me thats effectively like if a director had the characters in a drama talking about how much they love his work and how everyone should appreciate it right in the middle of the movie. Its just not how you should do it, and it really did bother me a lot.
My final point is based on your comment... no you aren't a big company but you should recognise that this isn't a community that worships the big flash companies, this place is more honest then that, even if you dont like it. Some people may view you as having stolen the idea, I think thats a bit harsh. However they are entirely entitled to their opinions and you really need to see that there is a lot of truth behind what people are saying. Stating that your better then us because you've made a game and we can't and that our opinions are therefore worthless is extremely immature and simply makes you seem self absorbed.
You get a four because thats what this game deserves, to rehash quickly:
-Bugs added a lot of unnecessary frustration
-Rolling stop feature was annoying and didin't add to gameplay
-Atmosphere created by music and art was well done
-But eventually ruined for me by unfortunate mean of advertising
-Level select is always a plus!
-You would get blasted less if you came up with an idea that was completely your own, or at least referenced that you were inspired by someone else
-Loosen up a bit... don't give up because of this, it's a decent game. Have fun with it, that's what its supposed to be.
Good luck.
