Reviews for "Paradox Embrace"

This is a nice game

I liked it but... why did you have to make the main character so uncharismatic ?!? It kinda ruins a bit the whole immersion aspect of the game with the different worlds and so on

I love

How I get to play as Brendan Fraser in this!!! Really unique game. :D

EntropicOrder responds:

Hahaha, I thought the same thing when I first saw the little dude. :D

WOW!

I love it and i think it should have a sequel. Shame about the end though

EntropicOrder responds:

Thanks.

trippy

it seems so complex at first but its clearly not that big of an undertaking

good job please make a sequel

EntropicOrder responds:

That's exactly the type of thing we were going for. Big but finite.

Not new but very interesting

I remember reading a few years back that 2D platforming is dead since the coming of 3D, this game (as well as others such as Ching Chong Beautiful) demonstrates that 2D platforming has its place in gaming and I dare to say its irreplaceable.

For a start we have an interesting enviroment. The three world twist really adds to the gaming and helps keep the player in attention. Really didn't feel like I'm just hitting switches, but (mostly at the begining) it felt like I'm exploring not just the game world but also its possibilities. The three different 'worlds' idea is great and really kept me interested where other platformers would start getting dull, since the different worlds offered different graphics and music, it was always a kind of refreshment to make the switch.

The story was interesting as well... and perhaps confusing, did you intend to leave it to the player to find an interpretation or is there a 'correct' one? it seems that rather than exploring a world, you're exploring a characters mind and its aspects: nature, logic and belief, which are used to discover the answer to a paradox. But its a guess as good as any :)

The main flaws would be that the games formula starts wearing thin: over time theres less exploring and more problem solving and that might deter the audience drawn by the (very fun) first levels. I would suggest not to throw all the obstacles and modes at the player at once, but instead start with shorter first levels slowly introducing obstacles, modes and enemies. The game walks a over the line between a logical and exploration game, starts off standing in the middle and moves to the logical side later. I'd suggest keep giving some new mechanic or character (item) per level to keep the player exploring, or show new uses for old elements :)

Overal very fun, but lacks any reason for replayability. I'd say it's a close match to Ching Chong Beautiful, just centered on a different kind of player. The game deserves a 4/5 on my vote.

I have a concept in mind that the game is trying to convey, but it is pretty open ended and up for interpretation. Exploring his mind is pretty close. :)

Those are great suggestions and in future games I will definitely shoot for more revelation of new elements throughout the game instead of upfront.

If you like earning medals you can replay levels to try to get a Game Time of 19 minutes or less. ;)
