Reviews for "Paradox Embrace"

It's a nice game...

It's a very nice game, I really like most aspects. But it's not without its problems.
The art is very well-drawn. The music is catchy. The character-design is good as well.
But it all lacked a certain charm. I missed the originality and charm that most characters from good games have. The leading character (and its multiple versions) lack a certain charm that a leading character really needs; just look at characters like Nintendo's Mario for example.
The gameplay, though amusing, wore off a bit too soon for my taste as well. The whole shifting thing is clever and fun, but it got a bit too taxing after a while.
Now I'm not trying to say you've made a terrible game, on the contrary, it's amusing! But I feel that with a more original and clever look, it could have been so much more.
I hope this criticism may help you all.
Good job on the game! I look forward to seeing more from you guys!

EntropicOrder responds:

Thanks for the feedback John. A character like Mario is hard to top, but I feel what you're saying. I'm sure there's more that could have been done to help the player get more in touch with the character. I'll keep that in mind for future games.

Gaaahhh

Almost finished my PO3 game and it's got a similar premise, but definitely not the exact same.

The shining part of this is definitely the graphics of the levels. I thought it was pretty neat that you made it so the entire environment changes along with the characters themselves. Different enemies for the different classes and whatnot.

EntropicOrder responds:

Hey man, don't worry about it. I thought Time Fcuk was a very similar concept too but in the end they are very different. I'm sure your level designs and animation style will give it plenty of style and uniqueness.

Good Game

10 for the art
10 for game control
10 for game play
10 for challenge
7 for just throwing the player into the swimming pool without knowing how to swim. I get the game, however, I don't like the idea when you are in new levels, whenever you change dimensions, you fall on a monster and get blammed for damge. That kinda sucks.

Also there is a bridge, made from a skull on the third level, that's solid but acts like it isn't there. Normally, things are faded when you fall through. The skull is solid.

I wish there was a way to kill the critters, then have them respawn at a set amount of time. But hey, the game is as good as it gets. :)

EntropicOrder responds:

On level 2 you're supposed to be able to change and fall off the bridge and go to the left without getting hurt. I definitely avoided forcing the player to get hurt but you're right that one is a bit hard to anticipate the first time through.

The dog's skeleton isn't something you can walk on. In worlds other than natural he's dead and his skeleton kind of looks like a bridge when he dies over a bridge area but it really isn't a bridge. Sorry about the confusion. :(

If we do a sequel to this I think I'm going to make it so you can fight the critters.

Pretty clever and creative idea

Yeah, I guess the game can be a bit repetetive (not for me, though). However, the idea is really good and the game is pretty fun. You gotta try this game. I really LOVED it.

EntropicOrder responds:

I was inspired a bit by the game Carnevale on XBox Indie Games, which had a lot of levels using surprisingly few level pieces. I tried to go for that same effect, using little to make a lot. This can come off as repetitive to some but I think I was able to get a lot of variety and challenge throughout the game.

alrighty then

a little to hard for me but i love the idea but it needs to be eaiser

EntropicOrder responds:

I tried to step up the challenge from my last game Shape Switcher. Check that one out if you like games like this but want something a little easier.
