Reviews for "Armored Ashura 2"

Completely Ridiculous.

Welp, Casual mode might as well be called 'kill yourself now mode." it was so hard in fact that I didn't even bother attempting the actual hard mode. It could be a fun game, but since 90% of the time the screen is completely covered in enemy missiles, explosions, and so much other shit that your left not even able to comprehend what's happening. You spend so much time with your eyes locked on your character attempting to dodge every little blip on the screen that you can't even tell if you're actually hitting anything. I made it all the way to the 2nd stage of second boss, only to realize that there is absolutely no way to hit it with the yellow weapon because it homes in and tries to hit down all the missiles, but since there's roughly 90 missiles on the screen at any given time it's impossible. Sooooo... I'm stuck... until another weapon shows up -- and even if it does there's no telling that I'll be able to reach it without being completely demolished.
The weapons are terrible. While they are all useful in certain situations they quickly become useless. The starting fire weapon is useless since the silver one does the same thing only better. Yellow was the only effective weapon in some situations and than in others is became completely useless. Blue was only good for its fully charged beam, I wanted to use it to sweep the whole screen, but since you're not invulnerable while firing you'll end up dead if you try. Silver was the only competent weapon,

Sigh

This might sound harsh, but I'm not looking to insult, but rather offer constructive critism.

Sadly there was no real improvement over the first game. While I am a fan of games of this nature, nothing special is brought to the table. Gradius' nintendo days offered more. I understand this is a flash, but add some variety.

There are currently two weapon types in the game. You have Fire/Lasers/Rockets and they do the same exact thing, just in a different color. Then you have Shurikens which are the only weapon worth using.

The first boss required upgraded weapons for its 2nd phase so you could hit the rockets to actually damage him. The second boss was just a generic "cover the screen in bullets and pray you can dodge".

This game has potential, but the lack of flavor is whats killing it. Add variety, make the weapons actually have a significant difference beside their charged form. Make it so it isn't a game of fill the screen with 700 bullets at once. You'd have a winner if the game had variety.

This isn't the first shooter flash to hit newgrounds. There are others that have the basic concepts and then expand upon them to make great games. You have the basics covered, now expand and you'd easily be able to have a top game on this site.

All the fun you had in Asura 1

And... not much more than that. There is nothing no except a level of difficulty verging on impossible.

Lame

It's a good premise, but I think it gets a bit stupid with the enemy fire filling the screen and zero room to maneuver. I found the max charge ups for the basic weapon and the laser to be almost useless.

nope

I could have got into this but having enemies hover at the left of the screen that I cant shoot ruins it. I do not like getting it in the butt.
