Second a scythe does not have two handles out the side, only one.
When the kids were "skinned alive" they still had their skin on as scarecrows.
"The scarecrow stands today" Dependent on how long ago this farmer 50 years ago the scarecrow would have rotted. How would a corn field sustain itself for 50 years. And lastly why would the spirit wait 50 years to finish his business?
