Reviews for "Halo: Orions Spartans III"

Oh, wow...

I can't even begin to tell you how awful this is... I'm not going to sit here and rip on your or anything, I would just like to share my thoughts on your movie here.

First off, like many have stated before me, Halo and Japanese anime don't mix. I know you like the style but I don't know if anyone told you that Halo Is American, therefore it should be in an American style. If you wanted to do this dramatic anime crap, you should have just made up your own characters.

The animation was god awful, you can trace, color (poorly) and move body parts slighty... I have to say that it was like watching a slide show, I was bored to tears within seconds of watching. The story, I am sorry to say, does not help at all. Please just tell me to watch 1 and 2 because I don't want to waste my time. A good story is one that people will enjoy even if they don't know the events leading up to it. I thought I was watching, "Halo: A Dramatic Drama Where people Act Dramatic and Speak in A Monotone Voice... Dramatically."

I could not stand that voice acting. I know you have heard this A LOT but that voice acting is so terrible. There is no emotion in the voices and you all sound like nerdy 15 year-olds. I know they aren't Spartans but they are still soldiers and they should sound like it. I might see past this if the story was good but it isn't, it's worse. I understand you are trying to set an epic and dramatic tone but what you are really doing is making it as boring as possible. Add a little action so we have something to keep us awake.

Let's recap:
- The story is awful
- Felt like watching a slide-show
- 15 year-olds in armor...
- Halo isn't Japanese, no matter how much you want it to be
- So dramatic it's like a sterotype of a soap opera.

Before you decide to send me a stupid response, like I have already seen you do to many others (some of the deserving), please consider that I am not a bastard out to get you. There are many like me who have pointed out the same things as I have. Take from this what you will but it is constructive criticism, I want you to improve the animation, tone down the Japanese aspect, hire some real voice actors and add a little bit of action to accent the drama.

Dang...

I really want to like this, as I've been a fan of Halo since it was announced for the Mac. But the voice acting absolutely kills this series. You need to find actual adult voice actors that sound like men... no offense! The voice acting is as believable as the crap Machinima.com pumps out.

On a lighter note, the music, animation, and all other production aspects are TOP NOTCH. But it's very hard to sit through when it sounds like high school/college students are voicing these grizzled soldiers.

Holy shit

This is really medicore, and quite sad. The voices sounded like some nerd from my math class. Honestly a crappy story, voicer over, and traced graphics a good movie does not make. Try again with a LITTLE MORE EFFORT.

Good quality, but mediocre story.

I give you credit for the work you've put in to the OS series: It's obvious that you put a lot of effort into it. However, There were points where I couldn't stand the series. It's not because of the way you inserted your story into the Halo universe, or the voice acting. Both seemed perfectly fine to me.

The fanboys screaming about the fact that you took some artistic liberties need to grow up. If Enzer0 rewrote Halo's history so that he and his clan fought alongside Sergent Johnson or saved the Chief's ass from certain death, then there would be something to complain about. This sort of thing has happened thousands of times with the Star Wars universe, and most fans know well enough not to insert their characters into key points of the official storyline or alter events to their liking. What Enzer0 is doing is reasonably possible within the Halo universe.

Anyway, the quality was good. Your artistic skills have room for improvement, but they are definitely above par and good enough for people to appreciate the movie's visual quality. Voice acting was well above par: not superb but far from terrible. I honestly don't have any real complaints about the voice acting, dunno why everyone's so upset about it.

The story: mildly entertaining at best, at worst confusing and melodramatic. The opening scene from OS1 made no sense at all. Who in their right mind attacks their own soldiers with deadly force (Enzer0 would have killed a soldier if he hadn't conveniently used a holo-drone to attack his men.), and who is dumb enough to not recognize their own commander? The situation was absurd and completely unnecessary to the plot in any way, except for the introduction of the holo-device (which could have been introduced in any number of ways), which turns out to be important in the end. Even then, the plot is a jumbled mix of cliches and melodrama. The murder of his family by the military is also ridiculous and over-the top, as well as the confusing ending. Overall? Good technical ability, poor writing ability. Keep at it, though!

Great job guys

Hey great job on the 3rd one. And another great job on keeping this a secret! Seems very similar to one of my fan's fan fictions on my spartan group after the war they go and leave.

Great job, maybe for people who aren't Halo fanatics have a small fan fiction or comic like thing that helps people understand the replica spartans (orion spartans) and their story since in between the episodes you make it like the Halo games and have a missing story in the middle.

Great job Aquilas and Enzero on voicing nearly the entire thing! you could've asked me to voice the ODSTs such as I am for Aquilas' halo 3 odst short/series. But I guess you had been working on this for a while.

Sincerely, Halochief89 or Halochief89RvB or Gary or Chief..... You know my nick names.

Enzer0 responds:

Thanks chief - Im glad you enjoyed the movie
