Irritating

This game is irritating. Power-ups are spotty. One hit = one life gone (no health meter), no specials, no continue, lives don't replenish after bosses, controls are slow, hit area is too large for your guy, bosses are inconsistent, enemies are hard to see (i would imagine impossible if you're red/green color blind), but ... the art is pretty.... I think if this was more playable, it would be more fun. I'm not a really good gamer so, maybe I just lack the "skills" to play this game?

wtf

it was a good game if the controls actually worked when i hit the button.

Buh. No thanks.

The instructions give no hints as to what the powerups drop.

Powerups themselves will drop at the VERY RIGHT SIDE of the screen and disappear after half a second.

When the boss appears, you have absolutely no clue as to what his attack will be before it's too late. Some incredibly fast, unpredictable attack catches the player off guard, and they will most assuredly perish over and over again.

After a death, you respawn with full vulnerability. You can easily get caught in a death loop. Should have added some sort of temporary invulnerability, eh?

No pause button, no mute button... no restart button either?

I finally nabbed a powerup that gives spread-shot, and it doesn't even reach across the goddamn screen. How sad.

The difficulty ranges from too easy (move up, then down, holding CTRL) to frustratingly stupid hard (bosses that just appear and blast you away).

Not even a game over sign or anything. You just die from your last life to the intro screen.

Graphics were alright, sound and music was adequate, but gameplay is ridiculous. While the boss(es) are not impossible, the transition is terrible.

Well, at least you tried. Better luck next time.

RESTART BUTTON??

That alone made this game extremely irritating.
The graphics/sounds were good, the game play was mediocre (if you hit more than one arrow key at a time you froze) but the bosses were just stupid. There was no real challenge until facing the boss.

The most annoying part is that you can't restart the game without refreshing your browser. How do you forget/leave out a reset button of some kind?

DAIRYDOG responds:

For some reason sometimes NG blocks the high score table at the end, causing the game to not restart properly.

lacking

I liked the graphics and at first this seemed like a promising shooter. But unfortunately there's couple of things that bothered me.
First of, the difficulty. A good analogy would be like this; you start by walking and quickly work yourself up to a running speed and then hit a brick wall full speed. It leaves you with a painful unsatisfying feeling. Dealing with the swarming minions is very easy, and after that you present the nearly impossible boss. I'm sure it's beatable, but after several tries I just can't be bothered anymore.

The other thing that bothered me was that the upgrades drop from dead enemies and drop downwards. I had to stop going up and down while shooting all the time and let the enemies advance before killing them to get the upgrades. And once I had the triple shooting upgrade, I didn't see anymore enemies as they were dead as soon as they hit the screen. The upgrades should move horizontally so that you don't punish the player for killing the enemies quickly like you are doing now which seems like an odd thing to do.

In conclusion, here's a one minute worth of really easy shooter action which is then stopped by a nearly impossible boss. Graphics were nice, but when the gameplay is so poor, the total score won't amount to much.
