Reviews for "Vector Boom"

agreed. bugs galore. experience ruined.

Why do you people like to make near impossible games? what is with that? Anyway, I agree with the guy below me. But, I would like to point out that later on, when the enemies filled the screen (literally), all of a sudden my guns didn't do any damage. I didn't understand. The gun was recharged and then when I fired it it didn't do anything to the enemy, and these were the riff raff. Of course the guys with shields survived. And they loved to turn their shield on when I was firing at them. The turrets for the most part had to shoot them down, because the shield came up everytime I fired at them. sorry, the later levels ruined the experience.

HeroInteractive responds:

You just need to get skills. Time your shots to miss the shields being up. It's really not that hard. Other than that, make sure your blast radius hits the bulk of an enemy. Just grazing the headlight on a guy won't destroy him.

Bugs Galore. My experience has been ruined.

[THIS REVIEW SIGNIFIES MY PERSONAL GAME PLAY.]

Gameplay: 7/10 (Great game. This gave me a very good first impression and I was excited to play the game. The menu screen and music are absolutely perfect. Nothing to complain there. The actual game itself was pleasing. I enjoyed this new style of game as I've never played a game like this before. The variation of enemies and upgrades were nice, though, perhaps different weapon upgrades and such would have been nice. Pardon if there are, as I didn't make it past the 2nd stage. Also, I would recommend *highly* to position the ship somewhere else. The corner is a nice spot, if they enemies all came from the opposite side of the screen. I found it extremely unfair that enemies would pop-up *right* next to you from the upper right hand corner and you'd have less than a second to react to it.)
Originality: 8/10 (Highly original, but lacks a plot or storyline of sorts. The medals and their simplicity are nice as well, but reading the reviews below, it appears these don't work anyways.)
Difficulty: 0/10 (This is where it hurts. There is a *major* bug that completely ruins the game for all who suffer it's devastation. Specifically, the blue ships. As you know, these ships shoot missiles at you from a far distance. The problem? They don't appear on the screen. How can you expect us to kill something we can't see? I attempted to simply blow up all the missiles they shot at me and perhaps they'd inch closer or the stage would end, but instead, I found myself with no energy and I was simply devastated by a target I could not kill in under 30 seconds. Honestly, there were so many missiles my screen started to become choppy. Even so, I *did* manage to pick up the "Max Energy" power up. I believed this would be my salvation. With health to withstand three to five more missiles, I unloaded and made the biggest circle possible, repeatedly. The missiles stopped and I though I had made it through the bug. Wrong. I simply destroyed the missiles but I was been pelted with more when the "Max Energy" power up ceased. In dire frustration and my ruined experience, I will not play this again until it is fixed. I couldn't imagine how frustrated I'd be if I had 215,000 points in survival mode and had to deal with the sting of this bug. I'm not saying this is not a good game, by no means it is great, but this bug severely inhibits those who have to deal with it.)

HeroInteractive responds:

Blue enemies get stuck off screen when you accidentally hit a magnet offscreen. To kill them, it's easy: Just click next to the screen where they are firing and drag outward- the other side of your circle blast radius will hit them guaranteed.

Very good game

This one was quite fun and addicting! I usually lower a bit the score if medals aren't working and there is no warning about that. However, this time I won't do it, as this game was so much fun that it will be no problem playing it again to get thos medals when they do work!

Awesome...

But...do you think you could fix the indestructible medal, I passed the game on normal 4 times now but nothing appears....

Average

Synopsis//

~~This game got a 5/5 vote from me, the reason being that it is a great game. However the game can only get a ratting of average because it is unoriginal and I expected better of this game the moment I played it. The graphics were great, the audio for both music and effects were perfect, and game play simple. But there are many areas to improve in, and things to add/ consider.

Analysis//

Gameplay: Inspirational

~~The gameplay is more than easy to learn, and can only be described as addicting.

~~The enemies, so far as I know are unique, and interesting.

~ Powerups got you extra points for me in the ratting process, and they're of great use.

Content: Great

~~Overall, you have many things you can do, and shoot.

~~The ship upgrade menu is essential to the turret's life.

~~Enemies aren't all the same shape, and do different things, also a plus.

~~When you beat the game, you unlock the ability to buy everything, which is entertaining.

~~I like the fact you can buy multiple turrets to help you.

~~The pause option was more essential than the main turret itself, as I had many things to do while playing.

Concept: Ingenious... and unoriginal

~~I like games like this, which is a problem. The most original thing about the concept is the fact that you get to choose how big the blast radius will be and where, which has also already been done.

~~The biggest problem I had with this game is its inherent lack of a plot; no cut scenes, no explanation as to why you're killing these things... nothing.

Audio: Great

~~The music was kind of part of the setting, not too overbearing, not totally absent.

~~The sounds for blasting enemies and turret firing sound different. This in itself is better than most flash on newgrounds for games.

Suggestions//

~~If you want to make this game better, you need to add a few things:

--A plot

--A better pause menu, one that allows you to change the quality, mute the music, etc all from that
menu not the main one.

--A music selection, more is better.

--More abilities

~~Also, I think it would be better to change some things around, such as:

--Make the shield manual, activate it with the space bar, and it will be like a second life bar. Make
it unable to recharge until next round (also make it able to be deactivated ).

--Add different types of shots, like a scatter shot, a mine field placement shot, a sticky shot, etc.

--Keep the powerups the way they are, so when you switch to scatter shot and get max energy,
normal enemies don't stand a chance.

--Add more bosses and levels, one boss isn't enough. Also, change the music to something epic for
a boss battle.

Conclusion//

~This game is on my favorites now. I want you to make a new one, and make it a lot better. Thank you for taking my critique into consideration.
