Reviews for "Raider: Episode 1"

Right so doing into it, the minute i read that this game was meant to be "Challenging" I thought... And I quote, "Oh great, another developer that is going to use 'challenge' to excuse 'poor game design'."

After "DA Pink Knight" on Pice Day, I was becoming very disapproving of the games on newgrounds that were called "challenging"

But you honestly, blew my misconception away. This is a very good game, with just the right balance of challenge and reward. I loved the character himself, who's very original for a platformer mascot, to do along with the interesting setting. That alone kept me going dispite the difficulty.

Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to finish, I spent too much time jumping in pits to look for secrets after finding that first one. But I look forward to the next 4 games.

Well...

I didn't play for very long so I can't really give you a fair review ,but here goes.

The controls did their job nicely but all I kept thinking was, "fuck i'm slow" over and over again. But that's just me and my love for Mario, god bless the B button.

Very reminescent of old games. You succed there.

Your silly signs amused me.

I agree with you about how much Internet eXplorer sucks. I mean, we used to beat people up and take they sneakers for using it. I represent that Mozilla shit, feel me brah?

a little hard

i am using IE and i didn't notice any problems either. although honestley, the game is a little hard for me even on beginner XD make it a little easier next time please

Awesome

This is probably one of the better games on newgrounds, haven't beaten it yet (though I will) but it seems like the difficulty level is just perfect for my tastes. Seems like alot of detail went into the controls. Feels easier to short hop as compared to most other games I found. I use Internet Explorer and honestly didn't notice any "sticking" or any problem at all. Controls seemed perfectly fluid. Look forward to other episodes after I beat this one.

Pseudolonewolf responds:

I think it's probably just a specific VERSION of IE that makes that key sticking happen, annoyingly enough... Good to know that it doesn't happen to everyone with IE though.

Wish I could've played this on NES!

Great sprites, immersive storyline, great game in general. Making it one big level makes it a little bit repetitive though. I would've also enjoyed an equipment screen or something. Still, looking forward to the sequels!
