Difficult, but fun :D
There's just a little display error. The Level 2 window shows a blue gem, which stands for"slow", although what you get are actually purple gems, which cause "reduce armor".
Re what nuhvok01 said, there's actually a way to control what gems you get to use - to an extent.

Seriously dude, I spent at least two hours on one level trying to beat it.
One of the most frustrating things that needs improvement is the fact that you cant select the gem color you want. Each time you make a gem, you have to hope that you get the colors that you need. I started a level 5 times over so I could start out with the gem color I needed.
Besides that, its still too much fun.

It's Alright. Fixable, but Alright.
I've played Gemcraft, the original game, and Gemcraft 0 is a refreshing spin on the game, I thought the game modes were fun, and added a challenging twist to the game, but I think it would be nice for the mana costs to be a little lower.
Otherwise, I think the game is very fun, very challenging, and requires a good amount of skill
