Brilliance on a computer. Pure animated poetry!
This is probably the best Pico submission of the year. Not only did you take a story like Pico's School and make it something fantastic but you did it with such a sense of sensitivity and poetry that it amazes me that your score isn't higher. The music itself was already the deciding factor for me. As soon as I heard it come on I was hoping you would not, excuse me, fuck it up by making it something that wouldn't go well but boy..did you prove me wrong. You incorporated EXCELLENT graphics (love the style) with highly appropriate music and told the story through Pico's own perspective in a flashback deal. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Not only is it a sense of realism but you were able to take a crazy ass game and make it something..beautiful. Truly amazing..Truly amazing..
once in a while you get shown the light
10 out of 10 easy..... the easiest 10 ever.... to start; the music was perfect. Melancholy... understated, dark yet beautiful, and i love the fact that is all the sound you hear... like tunnel hearing or tunnel vision that often occurs during traumatic events... this is heightened by the first person shots behind the eye lids... incredible .... this piece incorporates many of the stylistic and thematic elements of your earlier works but the emotional impact and dark maturity is on a completely different level.... this is illustrated clearly in the aged pico by his car, head down in the rain..... you can feel his burden, a darkness he won't shake, that won't wash away, no matter how hard the rain falls.... the range, between the laugh out loud humor of "cookie" and the emotionally deep impact of this piece, is staggering.... you really can do it all.... this work MEANS SOMETHING... it's big.... if you live to be a hundred don't ever stop.....you've reminded me of something i know you already knew, that once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right....
