Reviews for "A Bid For Freedom"

Brilliant

I loved everything about this. :) It reminded me as well of the stories i read when i was young lol quite a good feeling, and the pictures were great as well as the way you went to te next page. Brilliant really lol :)

AdamCook responds:

We're all really happy you liked it, and thank you so much for adding us to your favourites!

Great art mixing perfectly with great writing but

a surreal script being read by a ridiculous malcom mcdowl accent? in the most serious and monotone voice ever?
I found myself muting the whole thing because the voice acting was so bad.
If this didn't even have voice, i would have given this a 9/10.
If it had good professional voice, a 10/10.

AdamCook responds:

Haha, I'm so sorry you didn't like the voice!
I think Andy's done an excellent job reading this, though, and by muting your speakers you missed out on Sasuya and Josh, plus the music and sound work that came into it, all of which add to the excitement.

We all have our different tastes, and I'm thoroughly glad that you stuck through despite the acting and enjoyed it so much anyway!

Cheers!

Original and brilliant

The whole story was funny and charming, the voices were simply brilliant and the artwork is truly original. At the end, I felt like I was watching an animated joke of sorts, I didn't expected that ending. This had a very proffesional feeling to it, the page turning stuff was really cool and engaging. I laughed really hard a couple of times and all the characters were simply charming. This is simply one of the best submissions I've ever seen on NG. Keep up the amazing work. :)

I really liked this!!

It was a great story...reminded me of the stories i would be told as a kid ;) though...i doubt a kid would understand it :P Anyhow, was it just me, or did the whole gorilla v. man + captured princess remind you all of mario v. donkey kong? :P

If anything, i just wish there was an option to have an autorun/autoflip. That was i could just sit back and be read to...ah the good ol' days. :D Though that might be difficult (i dont know anything about html/flash/etc), so the format it's in right now is fine :) If you ever make another, i will definitely be watching/reading it!

AdamCook responds:

Haha, glad that it took you back to good times!

It is certainly a lot like Donkey Kong (I'm a huge video game fan) and also like an obscure movie which was made in the 30s and then remade in 2005 by that Lord of the Rings guy... what was it called again? Oh, I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.

The autoturn would have been a great function indeed; as you say though, it takes a lot of time and knowledge to code. I'm going to see if it can be done and if so make that an option, but that may take a while.

Happy that you enjoyed our project; hope to bring out more great works to entertain you in the near future!

Stunning!

Now, NG is full of high-quality, but this is amazing! It's just... wow! I can't tell if you painted these in Photoshop or by hand (they look like watercolours,) but it's very artsy and stylized!! I LOVE it! Hope to see more 'books' from you soon! :D

AdamCook responds:

Yep, Nacho + Ceci delivered some fantastic style on this one. Cecilia broke out the watercolours for all the beautiful mystic ambience surrounding Nacho's drawings. Photoshop may have been used for some small edits and was definitely the final export program... I think for the main though, it was produced by hand.

We may very well venture into books again in the near future, having got such great reception from this one. You can be certain that we'll be producing a grand diversity of work to entertain you guys for a long time to come!

Cheers!
