Polished to a Blinding Gleam
This is an amazing game. I made an NG account just so I could say it. I was instantly hooked and sat at my computer until I beat it (on med difficulty), which takes a very special flash game to be able to do to me.
The game design has a depth of strategy that would take years to master. Difficulty is increased throughout the levels at a steady, appropriate pace. New enemies offer up enough diversity that almost no level is like the one before it.
Music is great. Very reminiscent of the greatest music of 16-bit console games, though wholly original. Graphics are a neat retro style, not everyone's cup of tea, but very appropriate for the game type.
But, oh, the polish. These guys know Flash like few others. Everything is exceptionally smooth, all the little extras and options are fantastic. The game is just a joy to play, nothing holds you back from the actual gameplay. And the final level is thoroughly entertaining and gratifying.
This kind of game doesn't need a story, and this one is forgettable, but the knights, magic, and monsters theme is done well. Who needs plot line when you have atmosphere?
