Reviews for "Night Terror"

Nice Sound

I like this song, it had a very epic industrial feel to it. Very nice. I would also say that it had an Apex Twin feel to it (come to daddy anyone?) minus the vocal. Very well made song altogether.
Keep up the good work.

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks for your kind words dude! Much appreciated.
Aphex Twin, my idol! I think he would be mortified by the comparison, but I'm stoked, So thanks!

There's more in the pipeline, and I don't know..I might just drop in some lyrical dynamite in there. Stay tuned!

Just how i like DnB, Deep, Dark and strong. Sick

Just how i like DnB, Deep, Dark and strong. great production on this and wish to hear more tunes coming from this up and coming producer. Watch out for this guy he's gonna be BIG.

dj-padman1 responds:

thanks man..maybe in a couple of decades I'll get my head right about this whole music thing.

lol

this shit bangs!!!!

drama

moody intro, can see this building into something good.

funky pitched amen breaks.

the really modulated synth combined with the melody clashes really well and cause the melody to sound like its spinning. really smart idea. (i think ill steal that :)

this is a sort of trance dnb cross over track. the chords and emotion of the big string section is great.

dropping soon i guess...

yep :)

comes back in nicely with some filtering, the production is a little bit muddy in places, just because there is so much going on, the hi-hats tend to stick out way over the rest of the kit. makes the snares hard to notice.

gg

Is it really a Night Terror?

The music itself is not too far off from rather ordinary. I am not sure what you were really going for, based off the one-lined description but I am sure you achieved a good stopping point between 'loud and dramatic' and 'quiet and unnoticeable.' I liked the fact that you used rather rare instruments like the bass and the drums for important scene music, and as far as those kinds of mixes go, it went pretty well.

Some problems I had were the constant fluctuations between the melody of the music and the naming of the song. I'll address the latter first. I'm not sure why you named your song "Night Terror" but only a few parts gives of the feeling of heart pounding terror, while some other parts, like toward the middle give off a feeling of regality and, for lack of a better word, pride. But the music itself it good, so there weren't really any points off for that. Naming is hard to do, after all. For the music, however I wasn't entirely pleased with how the music changed in feeling at some points. Like I said before, there were moments where it felt like adrenaline and quick-paced terror and some parts held little of that, holding more of a calm and subdued sense. In my opinion, there should have been a certain theme to your music that you should have stuck to, but not that it made this piece any less interesting and worth keeping.

Have heart, the bad part is over. What I really enjoyed about this piece is it's constant beat, too fast for mental track but slow enough to get a sense of meaning into it. I liked the use of the drums for that, because the drums have rarely, if ever gotten a lead role in a piece. I liked the use of the notes, and though the squeaking near the beginning marred the music, it all blended smoothly into a mindless set where you just really listened to the music, and have enough concentration to focus on something else- which is really what backround music is all about.

All in all, the music was well worth listening to. But the constant changes in the tempo and the emotions that you feel and what the music radiates is too variable- so I'm afraid I'll have to give you a 8/10.
