Reviews for "Night Terror"

Good tune!

If i'm honest, i'm not a great fan of the hi-hat at the biggening of the tune. But it seems to work much better with the whole beat.

This song was very exciting. I'm trying to critisise your work as to generally help you out a bit, but I really can't. Maybe song dark vocals over the top could work.

Great tune, keep composing,

James

dj-padman1 responds:

You know, as soon as I heard this track playing on Newgrounds, I know I had made a serious boo-boo with that hat! I'm a seriously slow learner, it's not funny :P
If you think it's exciting, I'm pretty stoked! And I'll definately be doing some vocal experimentation in the near future.
Thanks again for another most welcome review.

Nice Sound

I like this song, it had a very epic industrial feel to it. Very nice. I would also say that it had an Apex Twin feel to it (come to daddy anyone?) minus the vocal. Very well made song altogether.
Keep up the good work.

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks for your kind words dude! Much appreciated.
Aphex Twin, my idol! I think he would be mortified by the comparison, but I'm stoked, So thanks!

There's more in the pipeline, and I don't know..I might just drop in some lyrical dynamite in there. Stay tuned!

Pure Drum and Bass!

Amazing! I love the fatness of the bass! Only if you added a larger distortion to it... I like how the whole construction of this song links together very well! This is true drum and bass!
Keep it up!

dj-padman1 responds:

Wow, stop that, you're giving me a big head over here...
Really glad you liked it, and your comments are especially flattering since you seem to be one of the rising stars on the d 'n' b page!
Let me structure my thoughts a little better and I'll get round to reviewing them. I voted on 2 of them, I definately must check the rest out though.
Thanks again DJKorrupt, keep producing those badass anthems.

Awesome

This one has that really fat sub bass that pendulum use so well, its a really clean bass and it adds so much depth and punch to the song.
Really great drum programming as usual, and the fx and echo are reall cool on this one.
One suggestion is that the main structured melody which comes from the bass isnt loud enough, so the random synths hold too much attention and means the song is a little too random.
I gave u a ten so its hard to find any other suggestions, except keep making them.

dj-padman1 responds:

Yo KaiSun.

Man, thanks for the Pendulum comparison, you've just brightened my day a great deal!
I broke out the magic of the 32nd note for this one, I couple of timestretched snares later, and we're crankin'...word...
But back to reality. I think you're on the money with your comments about the bass. Definately needed to cut through more. It seems to be particularly clouded out after the string interlude. That's probably when the track should just go back to its foundations, with an amped up bass and some fresh synth action as support.
Thanks again for your customary wisdom, and I'm holding out for your latest creations. It looks like your Superstrength Aerosol is clawing its way up to where it deserves. (anyone reading this go there now!)

Later KaiSun! Thanks again.

(I said now!!!)

Awesome!

God, that beat is meaner than my Hitler Hacks LINUX one!! XD

Terrific job. Only things were that the interlude was a bit too long for my liking - I was really missing that phat beat there for too long! - and the fade-out which I felt as an uncalled for anticlimax.

The whole arrangement of the samples is wonderful. I'm loving the eerie shards of synth melodies, and the spacy sound FX.

Hey! On repeat, I notice that the string section closely resembles a part of one of the battle tracks from Heroes Of Might And Magic III. Was that intentional?

dj-padman1 responds:

I don't know about your first comment! But I'm flattered you say so, I heaped a lot of distortion and grit on it.

Interlude..you're right..I got carried away with it a bit. Probably wanted 1 or 2 less repeats and maybe some sparse but heavily processed beats. The strings should probably be dropped immediately after the beat comes in.

Live and learn I guess! Glad you liked the synth melodies, it was a fluke that the LFO's worked out like they did, I usually ravage tracks (my own) totally when I start messing around with those things.

I must have a listen to your Heroes of Might and Magic song, I promise you I've never heard it before. It wouldn't surprise me if they're alike, I think we're on a similar wavelength.

Thats scary..for you...:p

Catch ya around.
