Reviews for "Fear Unlimited Arena"

Are you slipping?

I LOVED Fear Unlimited. for a solid year of high school (my senior year) I played it through many many times.

2+ years later it seems you took a big step back. has this game been sitting around for a while? the combat is completely impossible. i just spammed d which made the enemy a cakewalk, but it still took close to 2 minutes to kill it. when 2 enemies appeared, i just hovered in the air and nailed them with the shotgun, abusing spamming to make it reload faster.

after sitting in the air for a bit raining death, with only a "pain" animation to show for it for a a few minutes, i realized i wasn't having any fun, and closed the window.

come on, man, use real difficulty instead of just raising your enemies' health to godly levels. i loved the mutant idea in the first game, it was a suprise the first time their chest erupted at me, a la Alien. I was too bored to tears in the first minute to see if you had any suprises

The animations are really neat, and the engine is actually really fun, glitches and all. they give it a charm and make you feel cool for being able to shoot the gun 10 times a second or slice an enemy countless times in the blink of an eye by holding certain keys (i remember doing both of these in the first game)but they have so much health that even cheating is not gonna help you get through a level in less than 10-15 minutes.

all im sayin is: give the enemies (A LOT) less health, then add more enemies. that way, you can feel like you're accomplishing something by slaying hordes of baddies and if you mess up you'll get your ass handed to you quickly.

I couldn't help but notice

Original content is better than copying almost everything from Devil May Cry 4. Swords, guns, charged shots, health circles, enemies, "stylish" rating etc. You just incinerated all the good points of that game which is really an accomplishment on it's own. Hell, you even copied the Blood Orb pick-ups.

On top of that the whole gameplay was annoying and chaotic, you need some mad luck just to aim the blasted thing you're swinging around.

Epic Fail.

Nice Try

Look: 5/5 - Great graphics, maybe even too much to my computer.
Sounds: 5/5 - Great music, it fits good and it don't annoy too much after a long time. =)
Controls: 0/5 - Ok, there's some bad thing, the controls are simply HORRIBLE! They're laggy, you start a combo and you can't turn the other direction! Sorry, but it's a 0 for the controls, try gettin 'em better.
Fun: 1/5 - Not so fun game, the monsters are a lot repetitive, and the controls of the game just sucked. Try gettin the controls better as i said before, it would improve greatly.
Overall 2,75/5 - An good try at making an dmc 2-d copy, just need some improvements:
-Better controls and better response time, including too and cancel control to cancel what you are doing, so you can avoid some attacks.
-Get an quality button so we can change quality.
-Try to make different difficulty options.
-Get an story. =D

Good luck, and nice try.

omg

ppls complaining about controls are so fing stupid THEY CAN BE CUSTOMIZED omg so annoying all reviews complain about and its ridiculoius

anyway 8/10 cause yo save feature sadly did not work
I beat the boss one ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!
and i geuss u cant upgrade yo guns can you?

Ok... lets see...

Agree with giveyounothing. Sorry, but spamming "x" and "d" buttons aren't any "skills". Bosses, or even normal monsters make it impossible for you to strike them with normal attack by blocking just every one. Is there any skill in doing backroll/diveroll and shooting them with shotgun?

This doesn't make for me better game than Fear Unlimmited. Let's see a single game from Capcom. I know it's hard to make a game in Flash. But it isn't fairly hard to make a game playable just in any case. Soul Calibur as an example - if the enemy blocks you can do throw move or use an attack which pierces through defence. (ew. attack low, when enemy guards up, but this isn't much needed for a flash game). And to think all of it - After i played Fight games like Mortal Combat, Tekken and i've started to play it, i thought it was way too fast. The same with Quake 3/Quake 4. But this is just too fast.

The only thing that helped your game is that you're invurnable when laying down. I really don't want much attention to make such a game, but this wasn't fair. I played all other parts and i'm not convinced this one changed just anything. You sincerely fail.

And now, about the skill in flash games. Yea, you don't need them much. Most games are for "casuals". Let's say there are no skills. There is just pure luck that you wouldn't be hit just in the time you want to backdive or hit. It's all about the mechanics - you just spam some buttons and nothing more.
