Reviews for "W & B : Deadly Strategies"

wohoaaaw

ITS KOOL-IO! duud, i loved this game. few lag on battles but when you come to champaign.... ITS AASOME! i like the control system especially. first i see it i thinken a 7 but when i looked to tuorial and control system.... GO ON MAAN!

Idea is great, but same as below.

Well, first I want to say the game idea is real good. The control system is cool, cause its realistic, the story is good, and the game looks good overall.

Problem 1:
The enemy is real overpowered with these Kuburai's. They just use their sword weapon thing, and BOOM! there goes your infantry/vehicle/building. You didnt make a good unit thats able to counter them. (well, not in the first mission they play with, at least)

Problem 2:
The tanks completely suck against everything but buildings. I played the game till mission 2 of campaign 1, where I, as you might have gotten, got slaughtered by the Kuburai's. The reload time of the tank is SO DAMN FRUSTRATING:

Lets explain both of the problems with what happened:

Scenario:
You just moved 2 tanks, 4 jeeps and 4 rocketmen to the enemy base. You completely slaughter the cannon things, the troopers, and just start on the buildings. (You lost about 2 jeeps, 1 tank, and 2 rocketmen during this)
Then these damn Kuburai's start showing up in BIG numbers. (5/6 of them) They all use their powers on your rocketguys, and jeeps. (Unit lost sound got real irritating after some time, lol, cuz I heard it so much)
You keep building stuff, and send them to attack.
Kuburai's slaughter your tanks which are just standing still.
Your next units are slaughtered by them too.
They counter.
They destroy all of your defenses. (3 gun turrets and 4 cannons)
Your HQ is destroyed somehow too. (It didnt make me lose, however) (what is the HQ function, anyway?)

Conclusion:
Idea is good, but you really should either make the Kuburai's weaker, or invent some better guys for us.

wow this looks like hard work to me

Really detailed. I like the voice acting :] Control I have not much problem to gasp, it's not too hard. This game is very well made, must have taken a lot of work, and is quite original. However you can still improve upon it.

For exmaple the plot. You can make voice acting, for mission briefs, I find that make me more into the misson and the game plot which is an important part of this kind of game.

Second the building placement. I am sort of confused where to put what building. I suggest either make fix slots to insert building in. or make a safe zone where buildings can be placed easily.

Third Stategy. So far all I see is units going back and forth trying to gain group. Now that's too linear and people will get bore by this type of linear gameplay easily. What you can do to spice it up is to #1 give them unit control #2 give ability to call support #3 make stealth units or sabtage units. All in all, you want give players more varity of options to come up with strategies. That's my suggestions, and really good game, wish you luck in the future :]

cool game few problems though

ok first of all you can not upgrade units (that is an essential)! next is the control, although it is original i do have to agree with VIRUzX you should have the ability to move them a bit (i still think you should keep the control scheme just add a move option).

In all a good game.

I played this for an hour or so before I got bored. I read in a prior review that you couldn't really helpt he pacing issues, and I agree that it's probably just a strategy issue anyway (i'm a very defensive player so my games take awhile). I found it kinda clumsy to use the sliders to give my soldiers orders. I like the concept of it, but making it more streamlined (if you make more games in this vein) would help alot. I often had attacks get obliterated because my soldiers would make bad decisions in combat. Such as attacking a building that can't defend itself in favor of one that is unleashing a continuous barrage of pain. Aside from that I find very little to fault in this game. Excellent work.

josh-tamugaia responds:

Haha, i know what you mean, thanks, but actually, the soldiers' decisions are affected by the strategy you use... As you get better at the game, you find that your soldiers fight better and better. ~ From my personal experience of programming, testing and playing the game for many months.

Thanks, Hat!
