Reviews for "Across the Universe: Ep.1"

good job

I thought it was REALLY good. you will make it past judgement, trust me.

Great animation

But strangely, and I don't think the quality and almost fuzzy bizarreness of the flash deluded me on this, the sound quality did seem poor.

On top of this the entire plot and dialogue were unremarkable and felt all too familair and precedented. Therefore I regrettably inform you I can not conform to the 10-giving antics that most here have done, and i must give you an 8.

It could have made a 10 too, with one addition or the other. Sorry. 8/10 4/5.

There are four types of flashes, imho.

One is a great, flawless flash, one is a great flash with a few glaring problems in it, one is a bad flash with some good points, and one is a flash which flat out sucks.

Yours can probably be characterised as the second one.

The concept is intruguing, and the animation, while a little slow, is fluid and agreeable, but the bigger issue is the one which seems to plague most "serious" flash movies: Voicing.

The dialogue's not bad, but the way your characters are talking, it sounds like they're straining with the effort to try and make them sound serious. Drama is squeezed out of every line like a wet rag, and it overshoots the goal of "characters dealing in serious matters" and makes it sound more like "people overdramatizing a Shakespeare scene to make it look ridiculous".

It's only a minor problem that can be easily be solved with a little work and doesn't seriously destroy the flash, but it's noticeable enough that it should be dealt with. Otherwise, this series looks like it has great promise, and I'm plenty eager for the second part.

pretty good

Of course, the sound quality wasn't too good. But anyway, it was very interesting and weird in a good way. I like the style. The artwork could use a little work, but i can tell you have great potential. Also, a liiitle more character development would have been great. I look forward to seeing the other episodes.

See For Yourself

BG art was stunning. Character art was okay; they were awkwardly flat with their surroundings. Voice quality wasn't top notch. Didn't like that. Other than that it might be worth checking on in future depending with what the author does with it.
