Me and my cousin have been through this tutorial several times. Almost everything we know about AS is from here.
good but...
i need some help, when i test the video my character uses the moving sprites but he doesn't move (he just runs in place). also if i hit the left arrow key, my guy dissapears! plz help i need it quikly too
best tutorial for platformer!
I do have some problems though-
when I move to the left/right, the running animation keeps going even though i stopped pressing left/right.
when I attack, my character doesn't want to move anymore!
when I open the door, I can't get through the opened door.
vCam isn't working at all. when i test the movie, it appears to the left and I can't see the level, also it doesn't move.
really awesome tut, though. some parts were hard to understand though, like you said "then add this" when adding actionscript, you didn't say what to add it to.

This is a great tutorial.., but one thing..
I made my character, and everything else worked fine. But... When I try to jump, My character wont jump :/ Any help? PM me on it..
Anyway's, thanks for the tutorial! Really helpful! Going to make a platformer game and release it later. It will take about a week - 4 months xD I'm lazy...
