Reviews for "Tombscape"

Wonderful!!!

I beat the game in 25 minutes and have the high score. WOO HOO!
Very nicely done, good graphics and sound as well.

Keep up the good work!

Also to those who are whining about the blades, all you need to do is time it right with the blades and click the arrow to move forward. It is possible to beat, you just need to keep trying different times to click. I could tell you when but that wouldn't be fun now would it.

Once again, Great Game!

Thanks for playing and rating!!

bear in the mind the highscore is only on your computer its not an online system!!

Great but Varied

I enjoyed this a lot, the huge variation of puzzles made it interesting and must've taken a long time time to code. But in a way I also found this to be the games downfall.

My favorite element of the game was the point and click puzzles. Lighting the torches for example, or using the crowbar to remove the boards. I liked the added depth, there were lots of things to collect in each stage and the hidden rooms were a nice touch.

I didn't like the action parts much. I found the blades at the start frustrating and, not knowing that the game would get better, almost gave up right away at this.

I eventually gave up when I reached the join-the-dots. I'm playing on laptop touchpad and found this impossible by the third one. You really should allow for all users, I was disappointed that I couldn't continue after this.

The linear progression was also a let down, often I wanted to go back and have another look in an area. If players could choice which rooms to explore first they could do the ones they like best which would reduce the chance of giving up when they get to one the dislike.

The graphics were really brilliant, every stage looked fantastic. Even small things such as each individual artifacts looking unique were impressive.

This was close to being brilliant, but for me it just fell short on some problems with the structure of the game. The graphics and coding are very impressive though, well done.

I GET FIRST MOAHAHAHA

great game, loved it, is nice to get a game that has so much diversity couse that is one of the main problems with most flash games here, they get repetetiv and boring fast, keep em comin

A good game with a classic frustration

This game manages to follow and implement classic adventure game elements with gusto and insight, but it also suffers from two of the usual adventure game sins, which all so many of them fall victim to.

First, a lot of the stuff becomes a pixel hunt, an excellent example being lighting the torches in that one scene - I won't get too much into the details so the review isn't a spoiler but I'm sure the author and anyone whose played through the game will know what I mean.

Secondly, several of the puzzles really leave you in the dark about how to solve them. While this makes the game more challenging it also is frustrating and robs some players of a sense of accomplishment when you solve the puzzle, as you end up thinking "well gee, that was so damn simple, why didn't I get that earlier?"

Just some thoughts. Oh, and to chime in agreement with those before me: the axes scene really IS pretty touchy. I managed to get by it simply by clicking forward till I managed it. There didn't seem to be a pattern to follow that worked. So fixing that as well could be beneficial.

Some good points, thanks for the crits, much appreciated!!

Awesome game! :) Takes full advantage of flash!

It may just be a button-hunt with a few shooting gallery scenes added, but that doesn't stop it from being a fun romp. This game does just about everything you can do with a mouse, gameplay-wise, and it does it all quite well.

I only have a few nitpicks:

-In the math puzzle, the 8s and 9s look too much alike.

-The numbers are hard to see in the drawing-in-the-sand puzzle.

-I often missed a dot in the sand puzzle, even though it looked like I should have hit it. I suggest using Point.distance(p1,p2) to calculate how close the mouse cursor is to the next target, and if it's less than like 16 pixels or so, count it as a touch.

-Same thing with the torches you need to light in the hallway. I kept clicking on the torches but they wouldn't light. It was only by accident (and after trying all KINDS of other item combinations) that I discovered you need to click the space ABOVE the torch. Awkward. Maybe change it so that either way works?

(IM me if you need any more info on how to code it, but I have a feeling you're a great coder.)

These are extremely minor gameplay issues. Everything else about the game is great. Great graphics, great ambiance, great puzzles. The story is a little thin, but it works nicely in a "choose-your-own-adventure" kind of way. It certainly makes more sense than a millionaire shooting dinosaurs in a mayan temple and pushing giant stone cubes around with her chest. (Which is also made out of giant stone cubes.)

Excellent game, all around. :)

Very in-depth review and thanks for the nit-picks, they are appreciated and I'll definately keep your words in mind when I make the sequel ;-)

Thanks!!
