That's true. I don't consider it a problem, to be honest. All the other things people have complained about were legitimate issues, but the ability to keep continuing and trying to beat one more level? I don't consider that a flaw.

it was solid

i liked it but i would have liked to see some power-ups like spread shot or something, just to keep it interesting. Other then that i enjoyed this game

Oh, man, you're telling me. Get some spread action, maybe a homing weapon that does less damage, some kinda beam weapon that does a ton of dammage but only in one spot... maybe a cannon that has a pause between shots but does splash damage upon impact...

...then counter that with different ship formations, each of which is weak against one specific weapon, like in Axelay. Then you could let the player level-up whatever he wants to between missions, and level the enemies health and damage ratings linearly as the game progresses... add not only a top-score, but a series of mission-specific scores, and special awards you can earn for doing crazy shit like clearing the stage without taking a hit, or destroying 100% of the incidental ground infrastructure in a stage.

Please believe me. I have better ideas than this. It just takes a while. At the time, I was desperate to get something out there. The next game will be better, I promise.

great start

just to let you know, there are 'utilities' out there that can reverse engineer the source-code of any flash file. This is too solid of an engine to let slip away just because you don't have your original files =)

Yeah, but I was under the impression that they only let you recapture the original movieclip objects, not the AS code.

Anyway, I've already moved on from AS2 to AS3. This game didn't use OOP or BitmapDatas for the main display objects... Just trust me, I'm better off recoding it from scratch, and there's very little here I would reuse in terms of art assets.

I will give u a 10 cuz 1: im nice 2:it's got a good idea 3: i understand how it is with ur first public game 4: u could remake this game about 2 times or more better!!! 5 : i got some ideas.
Some ideas are: genrate some gold/ EXP per unit , UPgrades , harder enmies.
here are some waky idea's: support ground unit { buy / powerup } or air support

hmm its like galaga

but i did not see any power ups and id like to see the controls swapped over to the mouse which would be way easier to get from 1 side of the field to the other and increase accuracy

I agree with you about the powerups, but no way on the mouse controls. Every shmup that's ever implemented mouse controls would always have the player ship slowly trailing behind the mouse cursor, specifically to prevent that cheat.
