Reviews for "Blueshift"

8/10 because..

I really love side or up scrolling shooter, especially when they have a lot of different weapons and powerups :)

This game is not so hard as some of the other reviewer think, there are a lot of checkpoints, and after every death you keep you weapon xp. Maybe its to hard to succeed without losing a life or two.

I gave this game "only" 8 Stars because:
The fast but light shielded ist quite useless, there is just too much enemy fire , dodging is too hard.(-1)
So many weapons, just 2 slots, thats mean. (-1)
At last but not least, theres a bug in the final stage, the boss doesent appear... at the end you keep on flying without enemy contact :( (-1)

After nearly 2 h of playing, something like that is really frustrating ... but i enjoyed this 2 hours so (+1)

I hope you will fix this.

DecKai

A Bullet Hell game that could use some work.

- There are too many shots without much of a pattern.

- You shouldn't have such a large hit box with that many bullets.

- Oversensitive controls... not a good idea.

- Nothing seems to set this apart from the rest of the shmups.

- Doesn't keep you interested.

+ Graphics were good.

+ Menus and features were well designed.

2/5, 4/10.

Game made with taste

Awesome game!
It's challenging, and obviously has a lot of thought. The weapon system is perfect, the shield thing is a great idea, and it has some really cool FX. The BGs and bosses look detailed, well done!
Also there are different weapons and ships which adds to gameplay.
I only played through the first level, but I really hope I remember to continue this game through.

Sloppy, rough, and shoddy, like a used tank.

I think I get what the author was going for, here. First of all, ignore the fast, light-armored fighter. She's a waste of skin. What you want is the big honkin' tank.

This isn't a curtain-fire game about weaving between enemy shots. It's not even a game like Einhander where your ability to grab, wield, and maintain the right weapons loadout is key to success. This is just a balls-to-the-wall merc run. Your objective is to dish out more damage than you receive, so you can auger your pock-marked, smoking gunship into a health powerup just before your hull comes apart at the seams.

Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get into that mindset, although the rough & gritty graphics and sounds are a hint. The risk/reward schedules here are quite different from the shooters you may be used to. Getting shot all to hell isn't a risk so much as a fact of life.

I suppose if you can master the fiddly little split-second shield, you could block a lot of shots, but if you don't have great timing skills, you'll need to develop them. I'm not a DDR or Guitar Hero player, myself, so I couldn't hack it, and this game *really* put me in the mood for a standard sh'mup.

I might come back to this later if I'm bored and take another crack at it. But really, it's just a totally different game than the genre conventions would suggest. This is not a traditional Sh'mup. This is a damage-soaking sh'mup. You're flying a tank in every respect. Try to keep that in mind.

Yawn, same old...

I can't really designate this. It's just boring!

There are no real bullet patters, the enemies fire too fast, the ships look god awful, there aren't any interesting score systems like chains, there's too much to worry about, the health bar lowers any alertness, and there's a field of play that is bigger than your field of view! Good lord, play some shumps before making one of these! Your other games are fun and compelling, however none of their positive attributes have shown themselves in your take on this classic genre.
