Reviews for "Blueshift"

Pure Fun

This game is amazing. I just love everything about it. Thank you for making it

the end boss...

... blows monkey chunks, after i had to use an emp just to find it, it was easier than some of the earlier bosses.

otherwise good game, i really like how the best weapon was a gigantic razor strapped to your ship

Good game

Great game overall, I like a challenge. I get stuck on the last part of the last level, though, which is pretty lame (tried twice). I'm just floating in space and nothing happens. Guess I'll try again -_-

Awesome game with one, tiny, aggravating flaw

This game is amazingly fun. The controls are perfect, the flow is spectacular, the weapons are diverse and useful, the levels are challenging but not unbeatable, and the ships are perfectly balanced.

There is, however, one thing that nearly drove me to madness with this game: Why do you automatically pick up weapons when you fly over them, even if they're significant worse than, or of a lower level than, your current one?

In the beginning of the game this was fine. However, at the higher levels (5b to be precise, a long level with no checkpoints), I was constantly "accidentally" running over horrible level 1-level 2 weapons which replaced my level 5 ChainLightning, which is the only weapon I've found that gets even close to beating that level.

Since there is no weapon pickup confirmation, my level 5 ChainLightning was automatically replaced with some godawful level 2 beam of some sort, and shortly thereafter I lost the level (because I couldn't kill any of the enemies with such a weak weapon). What's worse, I had to keep loading up the beginning of the level to try to get the ChainLightning back. This wouldn't be too horrible if higher levels gave you higher powerups, but unfortunately it's completely random, so all weapons have the same chance of appearing at all levels. There were times when I had to play the beginning of a level 30 times in a row trying to get the weapon I wanted, only to lose it 2 minutes later when I accidentally flew over some other garbage weapon. It was unbelievably frustrating.

A confirmation box, or simply an option to "Not Pick Up New Weapons" would have remedied this problem, and the game would get a 10. Right now, it's probably at a 9.5, but that weapon pickup problem is so absolutely annoying that I couldn't give it a perfect 10.

It is a fantastic game though. Make more of them!

Awesome

This game is great! The shield, I feel, could be slightly longer, but it should still be short, so it works ok. I'll have to come back to finish it up though!
