Why it's not so hard

I beat all 3 of the first levels (1a, 1b, 1c) and also 2a. This game SEEMS hard because you do die a fair amount. BUT, if you know a few things about the game it becomes easier:

1. You apparently have infinite lives. You die, you get to start again, and you keep your weapon upgrades from before you died. It also helps to pick the redhead in the beginning since she has more life than the others.
2. Not all weapons are created equal. Weapons like the laser or the machine gun that just shoot straight ahead basically suck. The best weapon for the first level is the missiles (3 missiles shoot, track onto target). Once you get a good weapon, keep using it (don't pick up weapon change powerups) and your weapon will upgrade permanently. By the way, you can hold 2 weapons at the same time (press d to switch to your alternate weapon) so if you find a weapon powerup that you like but don't want to use right now, you can press d, pick it up into your alternate slot, then press d again to switch back to your main weapon.
3. Use your shield (press s) if you are about to get hit by a bullet. Shield only lasts for a moment so press it right before you get hit. If your shield blocks a bullet your EMP charges up.
4. Kill as many enemies as you can BEFORE they get close. The goal of killing enemies is to prevent them from filling the air with bullets, so ideally you want to kill them before they even appear on the screen (good weapons like missiles will do this). If there is a huge bunch of enemies in the middle of the screen shooting at you, don't stand in front of them trying to kill them, focus on avoiding their bullets.

could be good, but isnt

The graphics were awesome. The game looked very good.

But you've ruined the game from the start with the poor maneuverability. When there's a lot of bullets flying around you can't have such 'inaccurate' moving. The ship can't move 10 meters up when you want it to move only one. You must realize when there's only the ship sized area where you are safe, and every where else is bullets flying, that kind of maneuverability ruins the game totally. It's not fun nor skill based at all. Some might argue "it takes skill to learn this", for those I say that learning to adjust to a crappy maneuverability is not skill. It equals to learning to drink alcohol. You might get good at it, but all you've done is destroyed a lot of your brain cells.

The enemies, I didn't like that they were constantly spamming their bullets. You couldn't get in front of the enemy to kill it without taking a hit from the bullets. This is probably where you thought we'd use the shield? No, not a good solution. If you've played other shooters you might have picked up that the good ones have their enemies fire occasionally. They fire = you dodge = get back up and kill the enemy = satisfaction = feeling of "I rule at this game" = good game. I know you also had those kind of enemies, but the majority of the beginning of the game there were a lot of those who just flew straight and spammed their bullets. And with the problems I've mentioned in this review, your game just doesn't get the chance to show what cool stuff you could have later on. If the game is bad at the start, people will just close the game.

SHIT!!

WOW sean your THIS good?!?!

Uber hard... but worth it

at times this game can be ridiculous in its difficulty. However... after you beat a level all of your effort is well paid off by the feeling of a job well done, A good game with great potential. And if you don't care for Blueshift Your a COMMIE!

Extreme

Extremely good game, takes skill to play. A lot of people seem to be having a go about the the shields but by the game play I figured it was a good thing it made it so a lot more skill was needed in the execution of the shield deployment. 'Pyro-Mcneal' was right that the ship should of been controlled by the mouse for better movement.
