Reviews for "Pirate Race"

this game was pretti fun buht it was to easy

kewl

easy to beat ...

well it didnt take me very long to beat this game .... i had to restart it once ....

the trick is; buy only paddles <.<' and when you have the money buy the ships ....

in the last level i still had only 1 sail and 2 cannons, but i was faster (as the AI kept crushing in the islands ^^) :P ^^

but honestly, it wasnt very amusing to play it without really buying upgrades :S

You should play them before releasing them.

Bugs included:
-Cannon ball movement (mine and theirs) based on my position. They should move in relation to the water, not the player.

-My ship would sometimes only send out 1 ball. Most often during a turn.

-At the shop after stage four I went to buy my first upgrade, the Pheonix(sp). It was lit, I had more than enough by 2 and the buy button was available. But it wouldn't give it to me when I clicked.

-The ship drifts to the left when attempting to go straight.

-I was able to row over islands.

-The AI would run aground and keep going until it bounced around stuff.

Gameplay and design issues:
-THERE IS NO VOLUME CONTROL!!! Why are my only options either quiet or ear rupture? (But you gained a point for at least having a mute.)

-The reset button is useless. Having the player click to change the rewards and possible outcome seems to be the result of laziness and indecision when it came to designing the game balance.

-You loose money anytime you loose the race which means you have lost the game entirely.

-You cannot go back to the store if you loose, so when you are saving up and loose a race, you cannot use any of your wealth to try and get an edge.

-The upgrades astoundingly fast. I thought I was winning these races... This means that you are not really playing a game with upgrades, but a game where you have to choose the right pattern. Really that means that you need to get enough money to follow the pattern, but that runs into the issues listed above. And once you get around that, well, there really isn't a reason for the upgrades to be on a separate menu anyway since they need to be the same each time... Either remove the upgrade screen and just progress the player, or balance the upgrades so that multiple strategies are valid.

-Allow control over the cannon shots. As others have said, if a ship on the left is over taking me I want to kill it, not the one on the right I just cutoff.

-The steering is counter intuitive for a rowing game.

Summary:
Overall a fun concept, but it comes across as unfinished. The score would have been lower, but I have played worse.

A game done really bad.

How else it should be called a guy who makes a game that at 5th level makes not possible to win? I have tried each combination, resetted a lot of time to get the most money, and still i have to face a galleon that have two sails (as me), one row of paddle more and at least 5 (if not 6) cannons.
Was U kiddin, wasn't it?
Shit. On this game and I hope U get some from flying creature on Ur head
Have an awful day.

nice

but the enemy ships upgrade too fast. by the time you have the gold for the best ship, they already have 4 cannons, 4 oars and that ship...
