Reviews for "Morrowind [Ocarina]"

Sweet

I don't know what to say about this...
I think it sounds really wonderful and beautiful, but still empty for getting such a high score (which isn't so high anymore)
Let's put it like this:
You posted it on youtube with a video of you playing it = Amazing
You posted it on newgrounds = It feels empty and should have some background behind it

Well, nice work anyhow

Ocarina-Kid responds:

I completely agree, this shouldn't even be in the top 5. Thanks for the honesty and review, appreciate it :)

You Play Beautifully

Forgive me for writing a lower review, but I do not see how this song made top five of the week. This song is indeed beautiful and the ocarina is one of my favorite instruments, but what did you do with this song besides change the instrument from strings to an ocarina and add a little trill to the notes? Quite frankly, I am not impressed. I may have given you a better score if you had added more instruments and mixed it up a bit, but you basically did nothing with this song besides play it. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but this is just my honest opinion... You do however play quite well, so I'll give you a "7."

Ocarina-Kid responds:

No I completely agree, even 7 is a generous score. I don't know how this managed to get into the top five, it's extremely simple and if anything just a bit of fun. I'm incapable of playing any other instrument and I did practically nothing to this tune, like seriously wtf? This is rigged haha. There's so much wonderful and talented music out there and it saddens me that this craptastic piece is on the front page for a week when someone else deserves that spot so much more. Thanks for the review, couldn't have said it better myself.

Wow so is this a real ocarina or done on Computer?

Because this sounds pretty good! I never even heard of Marrowind too I thought this was actually an original song at first in fact I heard a bit of the Zelda theme in the begining lol. Anyway it sounds really good. Keep up the good work!

Ocarina-Kid responds:

Yeah it's a real ocarina of some sort, thanks man. Haha wish I could say I slipped a bit of Zelda into it. Thanks for the review!

...

This song is good in its entirety. But, it lacks length and it's repetitive. But, if those two factors are ignored, this is a truly great song. Nice job. I've always loved the ocarina. It's such a fantastical, mythical instrument. The elements generated by it are simply magical.

Ocarina-Kid responds:

I agree, it's far too short and just a simple loop.. definitely not front page material. Another ocarina fan? Brofist.

Missing

Great song but what i believe is missing is a sublime and subtle background tune that would compliment the tune we first hear. A sort of background thing that we may not actually hear but still pick up upon careful listening.

This itself sounds as if one person was playing it. Of course it by itself is pretty powerful but without the background tune it seems to fall slightly flat. It's like a beautiful building that is hollow inside. The outside looks beautiful but the outside is all there is.

Simply said, its like an M&M piece without the chocolate inside. A basic colored shell of sugar that promises great chocolaty taste but reveals that there is not chocolate in it,increasing your craving for chocolate while also disappointing you.

Ocarina-Kid responds:

That's a really good analogy, it definitely is missing a lot. Thanks for the honest feedback, appreciate it :)
