For me, this came out at me as a way of expressing love. See he was in love and something happened, like she left him or died, and when she left she forever took a piece of him with her. And he spends the rest of his days searching for ways to replace that piece. Whether that'd be friends, alcohol, or whatnot. Strangely, i can relate to this. Amazing piece of work. Keep it up!
