I really enjoyed this game, I think the money took a bit too long to get though.

Good game
It's funny how a bunch of people forget entirely how the review system works, comparing this to it's original is like comparing a watermelon to it's deader, more beaten equivelant from so many years back, this new one is always bound to be sweeter.
That said, reviewing this from a non-retarded standpoint, this game is solid in my opinion as a reviewer, the graphics are solid and the concept is something I haven't seen repeated on newgrounds, perhaps it is a remake of an old game, but there are plenty of these on Newgrounds. The execution was fantastic, it didn't lag on my computer despite the fact I have ten million windows open at once. The upgrades system is good, though I believe there should be more available from the start.
My only major gripe has already been discussed, I'm opposed to demos being put up on Newgrounds, though I have to say this is mainly down to greediness on my part rather than remembering that Newgrounds was originally created as a showcase, and not in fact a place for full games, demos are of course part of the territory, still, the game was playable even with the annoying demo screens, this gets a 9 from me.

There's a good potential to this
But there seemed to be only the one enemy. I couldn't tell as my character slowly gained altitude while jumping, landing on the next invisible level as he reached higher and higher to the skies. Might want to fix that somehow. I was expecting a side scrolling slasher. Seems to have good potential however.
