Reviews for "Scorching Earth"

Hmmm...

Graphics sucked, but in every other way, pretty good. Challenging, I'll give you that.

Nice game :)

Nice game, but it's too hard in the beginning. The first 5 levels should be more easy than than they are now, just so you understand the controls and get the hang of it.
But else a pretty unique puzzle game, 8/10.

Great (Pathing) Puzzle Game!

I love the concept you're using here. It's like a cross of the pathing game similar to sokoban with a twist.

I didn't say this was excellent for a few reasons. Partly because you expect new players to complete maps at 100% the first time they play, and partly because there's no logical reason to burn an island (your comment suggests I would be burning towns and stuff. woo bloodshed! wtf islands? you get the idea i hope)

Anyways, to fix this I suggest you allow for less than perfect land burns. Would be nice to know that I can at least see level 2 with only 5 or 6 points on level 1. I also suggest developing a bigger map mode where the idea is to figure out a way to get past the blue flames to get to a specific goal area. Maybe even an unlimited point mode where each move you do the blue flames move as well.

Still, interesting twist on the "alternate sokoban" genre, what I like to call turn based pathing games. Hope to see some improvements on this soon!

Very original puzzle game

I'm sure a lot of people already discussed how there's learning curve issues so I won't get into that.

However, once you learn how to play the game this game can be pretty fun. I stopped at lvl 19 and the levels up to that point were the perfect difficulty, not too hard so that you get stuck along time but hard enough that it felt rewarding.

The game is very original, major props for that. I only gave it an 8 though because it just did get too repetitive and a little boring. Levels became too complicated and required too much trial and error. The same music over and over didn't help either. This is typical of a lot of great puzzle games like Bolo and Lemmings but personally I would prefer more simple levels and not not like 75% of the game requiring you to think so much ahead or require you to lose 10 times before you beat the level. Maybe add in new enemies or objects to spice things up.

Awesome!!

I finally played all 50 levels and beat the game. On a linear view of the levels I would say that they are not in the order of difficulty and perhaps rearanging the levels should be looked at.

I also found a bug. After you beat all 50 levels and you reload the flash the default level select button says Level Undefined and when you click on it, it takes you to a blank level with no tiles and no fire.

Also, I expected some kind of "WoW" factor for beating all the levels, but all you get is a "Congrats for Completing All Levels" message that can't even be read because of message truncation.

Perhaps add a "Pro Mode" that requires more burnt tiles to complete each level, for most of the levels I had 2+ more tiles than needed. Obviously some of the levels cannot be made harder because some of them require getting all available tiles to win.
