Reviews for "Jetbot"

Buggy but fun

I keep getting killed because the game lags when the music loops.

Psycho responds:

Try disabling the music for a bit then (the sound icon on the bottom right corner) :/

I'm working on fixing that glitch.

level 29.....

i can't do it.....i can't.

Psycho responds:

Which spikes move in, depends on which trampolines you bounce on. There's a tip for you.

hey hey

I don't like to review a game before I finished it so.
Ty again for the help on 29 and Nice little ending poor robot why did he have to go like that :p.
Looking forward to see what you come up with next :D

Lunar Lander meets Megaman?

Before I start, let me say that I've finished all 30 levels (otherwise I probably wouldn't be writing this review), including the boss battle at the end, which I didn't expect (extra points for that). Now I can add that I enjoyed your game very much - it is well above the average in New Grounds. I've also been reading other reviews, and thought I'd like to make a few points:

(1) I do not think the game is too hard. You managed to reach a decent balance between strategy and action, and the result is really entertaining. The difficulty is coherent with the limitless amount of lives, and any player looking for a challenge will appreciate it.

(2) I felt the acceleration provided by the booster (and gravity) was in fact excessive, making the controls perhaps a little too sensitive. But then I somewhat got used to it, so I don't think this should get too much in the way of most people trying to enjoy the game.

(3) The comparison with Lunar Lander is unavoidable. So what? For people who've been gaming for over 20 years, like me (I'm 31, by the way), almost nothing feels 100% new. And yet I don't go around saying "This game looks like that other one, next time make something original" - Imagine what my life would be like if I did, I'd possibly be writing every game designer alive! That, anyway, would be completely missing the point of a game. Games are for entertainment, so you need to ask yourself: Are you entertained by this? Then write your review. NOTICE that I'm not advocating in favor of plagiarism, but only that reference and inspiration do not reduce a game's worth.

(4) Jetbot could indeed benefit from an artwork upgrade. Its current, unpretentious looks are somewhat stylish, but still there's a lot of room for improvement here.

(5) Even though the "truck-hits-the-protagonist-at-the-en d" joke has been repeated ad nauseam throughout the history of all types of visual media, I like the humor in this game. You get an extra star for that ^^

(6) There is no music (or any sound whatsoever) during the intro and for the ending. Also, while the theme for the levels is nice and appropriate, you can notice a small pause just before every new loop. Tell me I'm being picky, if you like, but these details DO matter a lot. Some games have even become famous for the quality of their soundtracks - not that I expect you to create a musical masterpiece, I'm just saying the "sound part" of a game should never be neglected.

I'd like to end this review by suggesting - in case you decide to make a sequel - the addition of more interactive elements, like the ones you used for the boss fight (enemies that wander around the level until you find a way to dispose of them, which is required for you to move on). So that's it, good game, congratulations.

Psycho responds:

Thanks for the review!

I haven't even played any of Lunar Lander games that people seem to be talking about.. so to me, I think the idea is pretty original ^^

It was challenging (for me)

it would have been fun to play if i wasnt so crap at it
so i am marking you down because i couldnt control it very well :P
