Reviews for "3D Animation Test"

not quite there

I found this from the Review Request Club, so I understand that you've submitted this flash to receive comments on your 3d animation, so don't mind my rating, which I intend to be consistent with its context on the site. So, my comments:

1. There's an annoying pixelization effect, which is most noticeable with the top gun's left hand side. Also, they all need anti-aliasing.
2. The gatling barrels on the bottom guns are difficult to make out. Glossy reflective surfaces would help, or else better lighting.
3. I feel the lower-left gun would look better if we looked down at it from a slight angle, like 1-2 degrees. It looks so artificial viewed from 0 degrees.

Gunner63 responds:

Thanks for the input. This is the first time I have ever tried something like this, so how would I go about anti-aliasing the pictures? Again, thanks for the input!

the turrets look a lot better than the minigun. why isn't the minigun as detailed and stuff? so yeah, use the turrets but work on that minigun.

Overdetailed?

Not bad for 3D animation, but you should cut down on how much you put into it. I don't know anything about file sizes for 3D animations, but if your next flash needs that, you'll have to cut down on details to get the flash into an acceptable size and still have something NG-worthy. If these 3 things take 1.3 MB and it's only a total of 32 frames, then there's going to be trouble later on. You could compress some of the things into one object (like the turret legs) and other parts that wouldn't be too noticeable when the object is moved.

Take it further

So we've got the examples of your 3-D rendering of a twin-linked minigun. It doesn't look bad, which is certainly a bonus. That's where it stops, as you need to put it onto a flash so that we can see how it would look, partuicularly when firing and objects or characters are getting filled with hot lead.

Good lateral movement in the bottom left, all gun barrels spin well, but overall, it could do with more depth - both of the context and of the colour scheme.

Good models but not entertaining.

Well, these models look fine. They'd look great in a 3D animation of this quality.

I assume the ribbons leading into the miniguns is meant to be a roll of bullets? Modelling some bulletes on that would make a big difference.

I also noticed to ugly white spots appearing in the front of the guns on the rotating turret, where there shouldn't have really been any. Only a small issue though.

Essentially, this all looks good but I can't give a high score because it's not entertaining to me.
