Reviews for "Lolcat History (Part 1/6)"

eh, not really good enouh for front page

You basically just rode along with an internet fad. The lolcat crap is way too overrated anyway. The only reason you even got a score from me is because though it lacks basically every damn thing that makes a show good and you used unoriginal characters that everyone has already seen, it did at least have an original concept and seems to be building some manner of story line somewhere.

well...

well this just isn't that great of a flash. it is ok, but the main concept of it was stolen from G4's hisotry of Lolcats, which was much better might i add.

jiggitysmith responds:

Believe it or not, but I started this project (last summer) before that came out. Or, if it was out before that, I wasn't aware of it until I was already in the middle of the first segment of my animation. (believe me, I was pissed but still really amused when I saw that). And what I did is completely different (they made it a history channel spoof, I made them exist in their own universe).

meh

the best part was the cat train

while not the greatest

it shows potential, i mean theres another 5 that your making correct? thats plenty of time to make up for a slow start. i like the idea of their language getting messed up in the translation. i think you should make them sound much more proper and then use the loltitles. i think id be much more effective. good effort! monorail cat 4 eva!

jiggitysmith responds:

Well the other five are actually already completed and parts 5 + 6 are the best by far. Like i said, though, I have to finish making a DVD of it so I'm spacing out the release dates of each part.

Started off strong but failed to keep my interest

Even as someone who is familiar with lolcats, I didn't really get into this story. I got to appreciate happycat and ceiling cat, but their inclusion didn't really drive the story (except for ceiling cat's request to get the staff).

Really, the introduction was pretty good. It was simplistic in its design, and that was its strength. While I can't fault you for some clever animation of the cats in the story, it was off somehow...I guess putting cats in human bodies will always seem off.

I read some reviews on how this is a parody that they didn't get. I can understand that. If I hadn't seen happycat, I wouldn't get the cheeseburger jokes. I might suggest a "primer" link in the menu. People who click on it are treated to a slideshow of Fark's most infamous lolcats, especially ceiling cat and happycat.

Keep up with the clever animation; as a Flash newbie myself, I completely understand how animation will get better, so I look forward to that. I'll just have to suck up that the cats don't look right. If you can give a more thorough introduction to the lolcats, then you won't isolate so many viewers.
