Jeez, this thing's potential is... Aw, man...
Please, PLEASE take this into consideration:
If you can mess with the MS sprites, then mess with them properly. The quick movement and teleporting was fine, so was the character interaction, to a point on the latter though.Try this out for size:
Improve MS to what most people want it to be. Change the facial expressions and use the in-game emotes as much as you can. Now, we here at NG are NOT expecting the fine craftsmanship that goes into an episode of Southpark, (Or for that matter, any of the toilet humor that comes with it...), But try to move the arms and legs, as well as weapons of any kind to your liking. A little more work, yes, but in the end, after the first couple of episodes, you have a nice, hopefully organized library of movement sprites for future episodes. Hell, you can even share those sprites with others who wanna take a pot shot at MS.
Another thing, take full advantage of the 2-D sidescrolling world you're moulding. Make it interesting, and in a fight scene, see if you can manage to pan the camera back to see better action. As before, no one is expecting a full map on a screen the size of a Gameboy Micro. Take it easy, and keep your cool by experimenting until you are FULLY satisfied with what you have. And don't worry about filling in a promised quota, Look at Retarded Animal Babies. They're doing just fine, (Except for Donkey in Ep: 19. ah, but you know...).
Finally, the last, and MOST IMPORTANT THING:
Do not. I repeat. Do not. Once more. DO NOT MAKE IT SOME FIGHT SCENE FROM DRAGON BALL Z!!!!!! It'd be nice if it was more like the intro fight scene between Seifer and Squall in Final Fantasy 8, or the fight between Cloud and Sephiroth in Advent Children. If you have to, though, at least make it as Matrix as you can, despite that it's been done to death on this site. Now, you should use the sound effects from as many sources as you can, even Dragon Ball Z, but PLEASE! THERE ARE NO SUPER SAIYANS OR EVEN A POWER UP AURA IN MAPLE STORY!
If you follow this recipe, and are careful of selecting the music in this original work of yours, (I personally like Disturbed: Get Psycho.), then you'll be one of the golden ones here. If anything, I am personally glad to have seen that you have created this short movie, it allowed someone to view your work and, hopefully if you follow what you've read here, point you in the right direction.
