Reviews for "Mario vs. Santa"

Low ratings, low score... not from me

It was a good try and I won't slight you for your first time. Don't worry about the other reviewers are used to much more polished animations and aren't really used to the whole first timer thing, you are also getting a lot of heat because you are a prime stop being on the front page. So hang tough and I hope your rating goes up. I give you 7/10 for a good effort for your first time. Next time though, something better worded please and just a little bit more polish, but you have potential.

Gustavos responds:

alright

I didin't like it.

I didin't like this submission, although I am a guy who very heavily relies on graphics in a submission for it's score, this had more problems then that. Not only were the graphics absoluteley terrible, but the story itself was so slow that I was nearly bored to death. Next time don't add that prelude, since it's so long and unbearable. Overall, well what can I say, I didin't like this submission and I don't think it should have passed honestley. Pretty poor submission.

Gustavos responds:

sigh... did you look at the good things, or perhaps the fact that I just started!

Better than most first-timers' movies.

It's not the all-time best Christmas movie I've seen on Newgrounds, but it sure as hell isn't the worst (I've counted at least two worse today alone). The graphics weren't all that good, seeing as how you made them in Flash itself, but I liked the idea, and the use of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's music gave it the feel that one would expect for a fight between two such colossi of capitalism (meaning instantly recognized marketing symbols whose mere presence on a product nearly guarantees a profit) as Mario and Santa, while keeping the Christmas mood one would find at this time of year, and in anything involving Santa. It also contained a well-thought-out storyline, and an ending fitting the characters and abilities of both warriors. I'd probably give it a ten if the graphics were better, but I suppose a 4/5 and 8/10 isn't too shabby at all, and this movie deserves it.

Gustavos responds:

Thanks Soulmaster!

Finally there are people not flaming me.

you guys.....

did he not say this was his first flash? it's not going to be perfect! the kid is just starting out, give him a chance. i watched it and found myself laughing at some parts.

a noble attempt: 8 of 10

Gustavos responds:

Thanks mrlion!

Yeah people. These first few reveiws are a bit discouraging.

not another Mario flash...

If you're going to do an overplayed Mario flash, then make it with some other impressive aspects, like high quality flash. Most of this could have been made in MS Paint in 10 minutes. Work on the smoothness of animation and making characters with detail. On the other hand, I did like the plot and premise for having a fight between Mario and Santa.

Gustavos responds:

Overplayed? I've never seen a flash with Mario and Santa in it.

If you like the plot and fight, why would you give this a 2 in a reveiw? You should vote and reveiw fairly.

As for art, well, I made almost every object and character using only the brush tool. The things I didn't use the brush for are only seen for about half a second.
