Reviews for "Portal Fighter"

Does anyone even know why the second game got taken down?

raitendo responds:

The copyright holder of Ninjai apparently forced Newgrounds to take it down fairly recently. (last year? I forget)

@raitendo do you still have an SWF of the game or something?

Good so far

It's a good start, for sure. The graphics are good, the animation funny, the sound, for what you have, is all right, and the controls work pretty good so far. All you really need is a one player vs. computer mode, special attacks, more room to back up and go forward (ala Mortal Combat), less obscure character selection (besides Pico and E. Bob), and a three-round victory system. Aside from that, you're pretty much done. :)

raitendo responds:

I don't think the character selection is very obscure, both Ninjai and Genyu are quite well-known, don't you think? If I'll ever make a sequel to this, I think I'd also include Orderly (from Disorderly), a stickman (from xiao xiao or whatever), perhaps Samurai Kick-ass, and one of the guys from College University. If anybody has any suggestions for other characters to include, write a review!

close but no cigar

this game had potential, what with the three modes of play and large quantity of characters... But, sadly, it didn't quite reach it. The game was just way too easy, sitting there, hitting the same button over and over again. There was basicaly no need for the defend button since you never know when the guy is going to attack and when he does, it's too late - the attack is over and you've lost hp. And if you try to defend early, your guy will just jump back into fighting position. You need to make it so you can stay in defense mode as long as you hold down the button instend of "dodging" as you put it. Also, there were too few controls and I found it quite boring sitting there with pico shooting nonstop. Also, most of the special attacks were jokes, no blow-you-away visuals and no massive damage, just a slow attack... I know this is a lot to ask, but next time, make controls where you can move around in the environment and jump and kick and throw. Whatever, this game is still good.

raitendo responds:

you have many valid points, although I have one reservation: you CAN keep the defense button pressed down, so even if the character seems to dodge, he will actually be safe all the time. as for the rest, I agree completely, and all games that I'm currently working on are games where you can move around (although only one is a fighter). cheers
(btw, you accidentally wrote the review for the prequel to PFII instead of PFII, which must obviously be the game your review is concerning)

I love all ur other games...

what's up with this game? Did u make it before "Limbs of Fury?" You did so good with Limbs of fury and Portal Fighters II, but this one only has 2 players, there's no music, the special attack doesn't work, ect.
