Eh...
Let me start off by saying the art direction is simply and sheerly amazing. The presentation through all the things you've got going on, comics, the game, - all of it is just plain GOOD. And it's a noble attempt to bring DMC to Flash. It really is.
But you fall short. Anyone else who would've tried it, though, would also fall short. Simply put; DMC is too hectic, too fast, too wild, and too fluid to be put into Flash. Your action is too choppy - there's no grace in it. I certainly don't feel like a crazy, ass-kicking mercenary.
Also, the controls are clunky. Really, really clunky. As a tip, and for all Flash Artists who -might- happen to read this; Neverever EVEREVEREVER use the arrow keys in your dynamic. That is a plain NO. The WASD setting is perfect in ALL ways. I want to be able to keep my right hand on the mouse. NOT switch from mouse to arrows, mouse to arrows. That sucks. If your controls are centered around the WASD, and your player isn't an idiot, then there should be no problem.
And last of all, I understand it's a tribute. But the story and presentation, the latter of which I've already praised, is just a thin veil. There's a difference between a tribute and a clone. There just simply isn't enough of your own, personal flavor to make it anything more than a flimsy attempt at emulating every single thing about DMC. I mean, DMC is good, but it's not good enough that there needs to be anything other than DMC that is DMC-ish.
I'll be looking for Issue 2 - I hope you can find a way, above all things, to make the game more fluid. That, honestly, is my biggest complaint. If you can make the action less choppy, more graceful, you will have a truly beautiful game on hand.
