Toto - Africa

Is a song I'm into right now. This reminds me of it a bit at about 0:30. This is really really good! It has a really good African/plainzy feel and everything, nice amount of variation, everything ties in together well. It's nice how it turned out, it would sound great in a game. (What kind of game was it going to be?)

The guitar and the drums sounded really nice, was that a VST? What program did you use?

Step responds:

Thanks! All of the sounds and VST's I used are mentioned in the description. The plucked (nylon-string) guitar was from Hypersonic 2 (it's a VST which has a massive library of synthesized sounds) and the rhythm (steel-string) guitar is from Virtual Guitarist 2 (it's a VST which has preset rhythms of guitars). The percussive sounds except the ambient ones which can be heard mostly in the piano solo are from Stormdrum.

And the game was going to be a large RPG game which would have a number of different 'worlds'. Each world would be themed differently. For example, one of the worlds'd be an evil world, another an ice world, another a futuristic world, etc... the aim being to finish each world to move on to the next. We had to make a soundtrack for each of these themed worlds with a different style for each (techno-y for the futuristic world, evil-sounding for the evil world, cold and icy for the ice world, etc...), along with a game-over theme, menu theme, boss theme for each world, and so on. There were like ten worlds or so, and in all we were asked to make a total of like 20-30 different background songs :P.

Was a tough job but we were definitely up to it. Too bad we lost contact with the artist for some reason and only got two songs done, this one and a game-over theme :(.

Anyway, really glad you like this song, and thanks again :).
