Reviews for "Music Box Waltz"

Good job

Nice. I love the melody, very scary though. But it gets sad. This is nice you should stick with this genre. Look at your listens and votes. You got lots of them... That means you did very good. This sounds professional I must say.

My god, this is so nostalgic and eerie.

Absolutely amazing! I have to say, the plucking of the violins, especially at 1:35 reminds me of Fable 1, Witchwood theme. Absolutely fantastic. 5/5, and Favorited I love how everything blends together to making it sound so very eerie and mysterious, but at the same time magical and enchanting.

Rampant responds:

Ah, yes, Fable. I loved Fable 1, its soundtrack definitely helped inspire me to write this track. Magical, enchanting, and mysterious -- that's what I was going for, just like the Fable soundtrack :)

Thanks for the feedback,
- James

How authentic

This song is very well done because it gives off a great sense of a music box. It must be forever since I had an actual one. It is mostly everything that you would want in a music box. It doesn't try to be too fancy or anything but at least fancy enough to make you realize how good the song is. The coolest thing is probably how it starts off so softly and escalates. What's truly impressive is that the escalation happens very gradually so you barely even notice it.

Whatever the one was intended to be, it gave me a great tone of grace and peace. While it loses it a bit as it goes along, still a wonderful song. Around 0:53, it seems to take on a more stylistic part and makes you think about going on a journey. I can just imagine the violin slowly being played to this song. I am so glad to have come by it.

Rampant responds:

Slow but steady build-up. That's interesting, because in my older tracks (not on NewGrounds), that's what everyone agreed I did a lot -- slowly add instruments, drive, etc.

Anyway, thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad you like it so much,
- James

I could fall asleep to this...

And I don't mean that in a bad way. The music itself is soft and forgiving, while at the same time sharp and... Whats the word... Vibrant? Like it's really cool the way the voilin just sorta squeezes itself in, then takes over more and more, meanwhile the music box continues to battle for dominance over my speakers lol.

The main thing that gets to me is that it reminded me of one of my favorite anime's "Coge Geass". Surely it hosts the same style and eligancy as this, but at the same time, their both comepletely different.

The music in the show reflects the emotions and/or emotional presence of the main cheracters life. This reflects the emotions and/or emotional presence programed within itself by the author.

Perhaps you were feeling down when you created this? Or perhaps you were feeling enlightened in some sense... Either way, the music stil reflects emotion in one aspect or another, and with that I'll put this review to an end.

You need to create longer sound files, I understand newgrounds has a size limit and what not, but a longer song would be easier to review as it would be easier to see, or rather, hear the emotion embedded within. Plus it would be better anyway because there would be more there to entertain us.

Great work on this one, I can't wait to hear more from you! Prefferably something longer, with more of a yin and yang soft and loud ballance to it. :D

Rampant responds:

I'm planning on writing an extended version for 2012, and I may be doing an alternate version for Hyptosis' wonderful series of flash games, "Hood"

Glad you love the track so much :)
