Reviews for "Tomb Chess"

bad lucky tomb

This is a great game, but the only problem is that he more lucky based than the strategy it self, what makes a loss be a matter of one or two "bad lucky tombs". Overall its a great game, only needs a little bit more improvement.

Simple, But Too Luck Based

I liked the graphics and the volume and sound choices matched the game well, they weren't too loud or too soft. I admit that though the game has a certain level of strategy, there is too much luck involved.

Basically every single game plays out like this:
Computer and Human player choose tombs diagonally from each other to avoid confrontation. Eventually one player is forced to choose one that will face an enemy.

If you're lucky, it will be stronger, and it won't die right away. If you're unlucky, it will be weaker, and it will die right away, and you will be forced to take another gamble. Typically if one messes up, they mess up in a row. I've had games where the entire board was perfectly criss crossed diagonally, and I just so happened to pick a spot away from a ghost pawn to try to at least mitigate the chance of loosing my demon lord... in either case, it didn't help much.

The main problem is, you're typically forced to face up to 2-4 different units, and typically one of those will be stronger and kill your unit right off the bat, perpetuating the continuous loss of units.

If I were to suggest something, I would suggest letting players pick what unit spawns, but once again put limits, such as 1 queen, 1 demon lord, etc etc. It would put a level of strategy on top.

I admit that this will complicate your AI programming, but you can probably just tell it to scan through all possible locations and pick the unit that is most appropriate.

With this schematic, more strategy than luck comes into play, letting players focus not only on what units they have, but the placement to ward off an enemy attack.

All in all, this was a good game, though I'm not sure if you could call it chess because there is little or no placement strategy.

FUN!!

i'm having a lot of fun with this

Interesting

I played it over and over again. good job. I hate how it can stalemate though when I am just about to kill the guy. Lucky ghoul. Also ghouls fighting each other is kinda funny.

Sweetbombs.

Good job bringing this game to Newgrounds with a unique style. It's too bad so many people don't seem to understand how it works. Of course, it's easy for a game to tip far off balance early on, and that can be frustrating, but that's obviously not your fault.

Seriously, people. Just give it a try, and pay attention while you're playing. It's not the author's fault you don't get it.
