Reviews for "Sleepless Nights"

Not Bad

One thing. You say you can explain the story if someone doesn't get it. That's a bad thing. Your flash should explain itself. You shouldn't have to explain it. Also, no one will have any idea what this is about, so many will ask. Otherwise, good job.

good point. Thanks for the good review!

¹³...

This was sort of odd, creepy, nice, my style of thoughts, and funny at the same time.
The movement of the white figure was very awkward, it looked like it was limping, please draw some of your attention to that.
Also..As I noticed, that guy in the movie is you..Right?..
How did you come up with this idea?Does this remind you of your nightmares or what?
I loved the part where that one person fell out of the man's ear..That part was hilarious!!
Umm yeah..I hope you respond to this.

notorious responds:

Thanks for pointing that out to me, yeah, i did notice that myself while making it that the running guy's running is awkward, but you never know if it's that important or not until someone points it out to you! This idea actually just came to me as i was making 2 seperately different music videos (the first and second music parts, obviously) then i figured i'd string them together as a kid having 2 seperate dreams, and yeah this is how it ended up.

I'm glad you liked it and you should most probably deffinitly check out some more of my stuff!

hmm..

Very strange.. you did a good job, but its annoying..

Interesting But,. . .

Here's the short of it all. Your work was good. The concept was a cut above average. Yet, I must admit that I found your "author's comments" a bit presumptious. You try to tell people how to vote. Or you tell them that the need to know the story before they vote. Well, is it not the mark of a good flash to tell the story well enough that everyone gets it just from watching? Like I said, the work is good, but you assume too much about your viewers. I got the intended storyline without an explanation. Your work was good, but there is room for improvement. The music definitely fit the flash. All the scores I gave were a cut above average, excpt interactivity and humor. I only award interactivity points for something more than a play button. Also, I only award humor if I laugh. I don't think that you were going for laughs with this piece, so I scored it accordingly. I would definitely look forward to you future works, however I do recommend that you do not write such presumptious comments as a lead-in to your work. It almost made me want to knock you down a couple of points or vote lower because of what you said. Keep that in mind, you don't want to plead for votes, but rather earn them in an honest efforted fashion, at least, I hope you do. Well, kudos on the good job.

Neurotically Yours,
NightSpawn

Thank you for an intelligent and helpful review. You know, a couple people have complained about the author's comments, so I think I WILL change them because you're right, if people get it then good, if they don't, then whatever. Thanks for the good review!

Well...

I'm SURE there was SOME amount of art in there. But true art should not NEED an explanation. If there was a story there it was totally lost after the first wake up. It feels like a glorified music video (cool music by the way). Not my style of artwork, but still pretty cool (what was up with the live footage anyway? Way out of place). All in all, i really didn't enjoy this simply for the fact that it was just TOO obscure. And to reiterate a previous statement, true art should not need to be explained, it should be left up for interpretation. And if it can't be interpreted, well then it's back to the "drawing" board (no pun intended).

notorious responds:

Yeah, it's true, it shouldn't need an explanation. Just like not everything needs a story behind it. But this DOES have a story, however abstract, the only thing that matters is that there IS a story to it, so no story is lost.
