Reviews for "Bender In Real Steel Life"

I think it looks great. His head could be a little less long but jesus it's easy to say that as a spectator. I think overall it's a great model and I love how shiny it is. The anatomy is a lil off but that polished finish really ties it together and shows the heart that went into making it.

Would totally go romo for it

Silverbullit responds:

Thanks for the awesome reply dreaming-loudly! :)
You are way to kind, and you are btw absolutely right about the head. I should maybe mention my cellphone pretty much sux and distorts the images, and probably worsens the proportions a lot. But again I can only agree with you 110% And yes, he is very shiny! :))
I did add some pictures our forum-mates has requested today, I think they show even better how shiny he is, hehe
I dunno what romo is but it sounds great the way you say it mate, thanks again for your wonderful support!

This is a really impressive model of bender.

My favorite feature on him has to be the eyes but I do like how shiny he is as well. The only thing I really have to say against it are nitpicks as in the red door knob looks out of place, the hands are just spheres and the teeth look like paper (it could just be because of the quality of the image). I wonder how much you would of spent (time and money) on making this all together.

Overall it's it's really cool and it would be awesome to have this around at your house, you did a really great job with this.

Silverbullit responds:

Hi harri21hi,
Thank you for all your kind words mate :)
And yes, YES, he is really really shiny indeed! (My cellphone is not the greatest tool to portrait Bender)

About his mouth I posted a closer look for you
just check out my gallery and it should pop up as my latest contribution.

I agree with everything you say totally,
his hands are not even finished yet.
I did a lot of work with finger mechanisms and drove a long way to purchase the hollow metal balls that makes out his hands to fit the above mentioned mechanism in to these metal balls.
Turned out Ikea lied and it is not stainless steel in them, thus I could not continue because it is impossible welding on them... :(

I prolly have 3 months work in him (Hard to estimate due to handicap I tried doing all in a stretch but I had downtimes when I could not stand up, actually did a lot of work flat on the garage floor.)

Money... mostly built from scrapyard treasures. Had to put some dough in servos, chips, levers, bearings, wires and electrical components for eyes and mouth and hands and arms mechanisms. Also put some dough in to trying to fix a broken segway that I tried to put inside Bender and make rollerscates for him.
And as I think this was my first time ever holding a mig welder I kinda blew like 3 bottles of mison welding gas because I had not the slightes clue how to set the gas thingie.
And a ridicilous amount of gas to find parts, including the trip to Ikea in a galaxy far, far away...
So I can only take a guess, pherhaps somewhere around 500-750usd...
(Gosh is it that much?!? This is the very reason I never counted on it *argh*)

Again I hope you like the mouth pic.
And thanks for your awesome review mate :)

Great job; only thing I'd have to say is in a similar vein to everyone else, the first the thing that came to my attention though were his (lack of) fingers. His expression looks very characteristic as well. I was also wondering why his feet were tilted, did that have something to do with the stand?

Silverbullit responds:

Thanks Magma45,
I totally agree on everything you say, the hands are not assembled.
Ikea tricked and sold me fake metal hollow balls that turned out impossible to weld on.
The parts, fingers, mechanisms, joints and so forth are mostly finished just waiting for assembly.
(As soon as above mentioned metal hollow balls can be found on my cheapass budget.)
Answer: aboot why tilted feets.
Benders metal feets/shoes bends just like human feets, you know heels and toes in my interpretation like they have joints, or are soft metal giving the illusion of irl animation close to himself in the futurama animation. Free of interpretation actually.
AND I put up some close up's for you that shows his shoes in detail mate! :)
But I appreciate your feedback that this might not be as clear as I imagined.
Thanks for you kind words and awesome feedback :)

Bad.

Silverbullit responds:

Hi LuigiBoy890 and thanks for the candor, and I honestly appreciate the input.
I am sorry that my interpretation of Bender was a downright dissappointment to you. But it makes me very curious and it would be very kind of you if you would be kind and share what about Bender you don't like so I might have something to go on the next time I do a metal sculpture. And I really do understand that seing a work made out of recycled crap from the junkyard made by a total noob without a clue might deserve your shared score. But I want to do better so I would very much appreciate your thoughts. Maybe I can do a little better next time with it. :) Thank you for the honest feedback, I appreciate your comment LuigiBoy890.
