Reviews for "Bender In Real Steel Life"

Three little details I don't like about it:
1. Hands are wrong.
2. Chest cavity handle should be metallic in color, not red.
3. The feet are too thin.

If you corrected those, I would tell you to shut up and take my money!

Silverbullit responds:

Hi mate,

Yes I agree with you 110% bonkurei! I am so surprised how much kind words all of our friends here shared. I think can only happen at newgrounds!
I can response to all 3 points that I btw totally agree with, so it is in no way attempt to dont take responsibility for all 3 of your well made observations bonkurei!
1. right on, actually I have unfinished moving mechanisms for the hands and arms. Problem was these round balls (from Ikea) that makes his hands right now. They were advertised as steel balls but when I tried to weld on them they proved to be some funky alloy and my mechanisms literally melted instead. (Was going to use the back half of the iron balls for hand and a flat round plate for palms close to what Bender has. I wanted to make him even smoother in transition to irl.)
2. Yes, the handle was part of a mechanism that would sorta suck the door inside and roll it inside so it kinda would vanish. Everything was setup but the special hinges I made melted, they were also some weird alloy that nothing happened on until they just WOSH melts. And the red button was from an emergency shut of contraption that I remade to "start" the door motion. My thought was to send the button in for chroming after I got it working.)
3. You have a point, but this is much worsen in the picture because my cellphone distorts the picture a lot. Even the legs looks thinner than it looks if you stand here looking irl at him. And the camera does not catch the shoe sole very good. His soles are actually quite thick and made to look like tires (even have some good year markings on and an aggresive sole pattern like on quad bikes or something. I should probably try to take a better picture of his shoes if I can manage to borrow a decent camera.
I really really appreciate your curage to share such constructive criticism bonkurei.
And I simply have to agree 100 percent, I do however wish I could show you his shoes for real and learn if you still would feel the same about them, would be incredible interesting!
Thanks for your support mate :)

This is incredible. You have a big future with sculpting.

Silverbullit responds:

Thanks for your incredible nice feedback RocketHorse. I never imagined all this incredible support and everybody here being so incredibly nice. I will do my best to create and put up some future work that will spread more smiles around our friends here.
Thanks again RocketHorse

You are your worst critic. This is really good man. You have an eye for metal work regardless if you think you do or not. Really enjoyed this. Great job! 5/5

Silverbullit responds:

Hi ho0d0o, I dont even know what to say. You mates just keep on giving kinder and kinder feedback. It was so incredibly close I did not share Bender as I was very unsure you mates would even like him. But oh man was I wrong about that, just more and more motivational pure hearted good will keeps pouring in from you real pros on such a much higher artistic level than me. I have to confess I expected a lot of irony and weird jokes but never I imagined there was a place on the web solely filled with 110% good will positive well meaning kind and supportive souls sharing the inspiritation of creating art. Thank you again ho0d0o, this day just keeps getting better and better. And really your support means so much to me! :)

Wow, you are the real-life Bender. I didn't think he actually existed. So why do you reveal yourself on NG of all places?

Silverbullit responds:

Haha Shadowriter, you never know where the real Bender strikes! Seriously I think this has proven the best place imaginable as I never ever dreamed of such full hearted pure good will support as you mates is giving. Thanks for the fun post Shadowriter :)

Looks awesome, just out of sheer curiosity here, how much does that thing weigh?

Silverbullit responds:

Hi Paco366366,
Oh man, he is a heavy in real life to!
I have been trying to put him on the scale for you all morning mate.
From what I managed to weigh, and dont forget he is made from real iron, I still managed to keep him down just under 60kg. But I have some pieces that will add weight, a lot of the mechanisms for the fingers, arms and half finished beltdrive supposed to slip in to his mouth and animate his mouth but thats all in small pieces all over the place. Those parts are under 10kg. Btw there is some weight possible to lift off, in the box he has a false bottom that is springloaded. (simply by two springs) The thought was to have a contact there making a pressure plate that would light up a strip of leads revealing how much weight bender has in the box depending on the number of lit leds. I hope this is a comprehensive answer to your question Paco366366? And thank you for the kind and motivating feedback mate!
