Reviews for "S.I.N :: "Tortured Soul""

So why is the overall so low?

One can see a HUGH improvement only from the last chapter. Your animating and drawing skills have improved greatly, or are better refined and one can defenitly see it.
Sound was excellent too and I also loved the anime style.
I can say with quite a bit of certainty that your graphics are some of the best seen on newgrounds (better than the legendary Xin for instance).
Your main problem right now is script related.
As good as your animations and drawings are, the movie's hard to understand. The plot is VERY sketchy. While I understand the viewer is not suppoused to understand the whole plot, there is still a big problem with the script.
Even after watching both flashe's I haven't really understood what the heck's going on. It also feels to me as if you don't have an already written script but just animate a chapter in a whim.
Whatever comes to hand you decide to use as the next chapter.
This may be wrong, but that's the feel of the movie.
Scene shifting is terrible as well. From a fighting scene to a barely understood talking scene to another fighting scene....What the hell's going on? Who the hell are these people? Why aren't the flash back's consistent with each other?
As I've said before, I understand the viewer's not suppoused to understand the whole picture, but it still needs to be depicted in a better fashion.
With all the really good qualities of the movie, I'm sorry to say your script writing for chapters is terrible.
And I am sorry to say so becuase I really do LOVE your animating!
It seems you have a good story there but you're just going to have to improve on your episode writing skills...

FPS?

it looks like your using less than 18. Thats why it looked choppy. I but 7 down for humor because 1 of the guys got shot in the head. Try to thicken your animations and raise the fps a bit.

Good animation, worn out plot and theme.

The animation is great and the style is good. But this theme is terrible. How corny and repetitive. Kain? His name is Kain? How many Kain's are out there? I lost count. On top of that, he's an assassin. Last time I checked assassins moved in stealth. They dont fight straight up like that. I think you need to renew your creative license, cause it was so damn typical. The chosen one/forsaken one, nameless character, wears black and is a skilled killer, carries a SWORD, and damned SWORD! Assassins dont use swords! The dialogue was pretty unoriginal too. "Peace is a memory." Maybe a -distant- memory, but just calling it a memory shows you don't take your dialogue too seriously. "I took out specific targets." Specific? Is that the best way to describe a type of target? Because last time I checked a target was already specific. Get someone else to write your dialogue, and a new voice actor. The combination of the two made me want to just not read the subtitles, and keep it on mute.

6 points for the animation

6 points for the animation, lacking the remaining 4 due to the complete lack of information we are given about who the characters are, and the speech being so cliche. How are we meant to relate to/like a character that says "I don't need luck"?

I'm all for anime, and the animation was good when there actually was any, I just find that this has no decent work put into a script.

Meh

The animation was great, but the cliches were agonizing.
