Reviews for "Nimian Hunter"

I was astonished!

To me this is the best submission yet to Newgrounds. The music fit the game perfectly! The game itself was all around wonderful, the graphics were amazing, the gameplay was awesome, and it wasnt hard to learn how to play it! I love how you are all alone and come upon a demon who you may or may not trust and you are doing tasks for him but you get to choose if you trust him or not. You are a wonderful artist. I could really feel the desolate feeling the rider must have been feeling at that time. Keep up the good work! ^^

cool - the rider (his name is Rando) is a lonely character and im glad that came through. He's burdened with guilt over his part in the land's original destruction and has returned years later to set things right:) I like the 'trust' issue you mention - i think in the future i can make the 'do you trust him' aspect even stronger. Thanks for playing:)

wow

that was an amazing game. It must of took you a very long time. Keep it up and i hope you make more!

Here is my say!

I realise that your animation must have taken a lot of time and effort. However the game was kinda lame. The entire game was running around lassoing things and dragging them to a demon.

Sure in the 70's when games like pacman were fascinating new ideas, something so simple might have been great! However the speed of the horse, the same song loop playing over and over, etc. While the setting was this naturalistic fantasy world where lots of dragonflies, 1 demon, and 1 human only lived is a nice sounding fantasy world to some. To me it's a bit disturbing! Throw Villiages of intelligent lifeforms and don't be entirely too alien and you might have a following. Oh and since Westerns and Medieval fantasy rarely coexist well lasso's should be replaced with something more for the scene you are going for!

Perhaps a magic net, a ring which lassos things with energy is less corny than a cowboyesque rope lasso! Just my opinion! Some of it was awesome! the Flying was really cool! Just think you need to focus a little more on storyline and gameplay and less on graphics! Some of the best games ever submitted were poorly done with graphics and awesome gameplay! That is what seperates a game from an animation.

That is my say! thanks!

Leon your input's terrific. Adding life (especially villages, sounds cool) and making it more relatable in places and thematically consistent are helpful ideas. Thanks for spelling it out so clearly and taking the time to write:)

love it love it love it love it!!!

Very "Shadow of the Colossus" - y... not that that's a bad thing. In fact i liked it and your game very much. I wish I could know the precedeing storyline a bit more, maybe like how exactly the ogre destroyed the world earlier, but other than that, it was beautiful. The Crystal Flyer could have been a bit more........special. Like, it was supposed to be so spectacular and amazing that you have second thoughts about feeding it, and you sacrifice yourself for it. It should be breathtaking, and I have to say, it was cool, but not so awesome that I would give my life for it.

popopt responds:

cool Jenos - that really makes sense about the cystal flyer, it should be something that you want to protect so that there will be some conflict - your suggestion is a great way to help audiences identify with the character and hopefully give more emotional impact to your choices - something im going for with my games:)Thanks very much!

daaaamn

theres nothing for me to say but great work.
