Good, but not great
At least Obi-Wan managed to summon Metagross at the end. Sorry...
Another cool animation that I completely missed, could there by more pearls like this on New Grounds? Although it has potential there are a lot of things wrong with 'Black Knights'. I found myself cringing at some of the dialogue, the script is bad enough, but the voice acting compounds the issue.
The screens that appeared between scenes, describing what was going on in the story, were unnecessary. It would have been more dramatic if we didn't know that the wizards didn't plan on defeating Malagent (sp?) and only found out at the last minute when the ancient came to smack him down. If you did want a narrator why not use a voice actor? It really slowed the action when I had to read a couple of paragraphs of back story off my computer screen. Yawn.
On the topic of voice actors, having only watched this once I can't really say whether or not they should be fired, but they certainly need more direction. It's a classic case of an animator trying to be dramatic, like George Lucas. It looks nice, but where's the content? The animation isn't even all that good, a lot of it was laboured and matched the cardboard acting. The echoing at the beginning was so excessive I stopped trying to understand what they were saying.
You could argue that this is New Grounds and a lot of these issues are typical of low budget serious animation, but it's so obvious that the author is attempting to be cinematic and he needs help.
