Reviews for "Super WalkLand"

I agree with capnyoaz

It was fun for maybe...four minues for me, and then I realized "There is a lot of blatant Sony advertising in this, so much that its not funny..."
But thats just me. But I too think it sucks. Grapics are nice though.

"Super Mario Bros" has more style.

One word to describe it: Average
One sentence to describe it: Average attempt at a company to market their product on a popular medium.

The controls are well laid out, but follow far too much into the groove of other platformers. As is the story "Go through a bunch of levels, get points, finish level, go to next, and try to get the high score." I would've liked to see something at least unique in the fighting... Stealth, or NPCs that you could chat to, to bargain your way past; then stab them in the back.

The main character, the enemies, and the background enviroment ARE well drawn and animated, however, the overall style is COMPLETELY ... Unstylish. Each level is just a clone of the previous one. There's nothing outstanding, which shows that one level is unique from another. It's all "run around a completely unbeliveable enviroment and do things" The sound is nice, but the repetativeness is absolutely insane.

Interactivity and Violence is a 10 since it's a game, and you're blowing things up and cutting them down, but it isn't really funny at any point.

Moral of the story: Games which are made to market a product are GIMMICKS. See, GIMMICKS are are things which have some sort of trap or hook, which try to catch the player and make them do something like look at a ad, or be brainwashed by subliminal messages of "BUY A WALKMAN"

Stop making gimmicks, and start making good flashes, elsewise the tenancy of your flash games on Newgrounds will be short lived. VERY short indeed.

yeah ...

Sounds like a bad game to me. The sound is particularly annoying. The gameplay is just horrible. There is nothing spectacular. Everything is just average and look like no creativity at all. For a game about music, this is pretty crappy...

Relies too much on graphics

First off all, let me say that the graphics are excellent! they are. Unfortunatly most of the rest isn't...
The controls are standard though the running mechanism is stupid. Because you start to run automatically after a while, It makes everything much harder, i had to stop pressing now and then so i could succesfully hit the right ladder, or avoid jumping right into an enemy.
The weapon system (grenade or sword) is also quite useless, i only experienced one spot where grenades was actually useful, and that was quite far from the dispenser. Grenades should really be an accessory.
The sounds and music... wow... when promoting for a walk-man (a music player) you should think that it would contain varied and funky tunes that alone makes you want to play. No such luck, there's ony looped music that isn't too annoying the first level, but becomes really tedious after a while. The sounds are completely... not there...

Really man, You blew it when using this as promotion for a walk-man, relying too much on graphics, and too little on everything else. The game simply wasn't walk-man-ish... and so i don't think this helped any for Sony's sale.

I gotta admit, i liked the whole music underworld thingy, though.

I expect more when a major corporation is involved

Okay, so the super space-pirate hipster-ironic 1980's airbrush graphics are actually pretty cool, even though I hate the trend that I suspect spawned them. However, the gameplay is a total loss.

There is no real sense of weight or momentum to the character, in spite of her realer-than-real 3D-ish rendering. There is absolutely nothing satsifying about killing the enemies, and nothing visceral about getting hit.

Health recovery is so quick that there are no cumulative consequences of good or bad play, but I guess that's good because there is so little character control.

So how can it be improved? Slightly slower movements maybe. A little more follow-through on every move. Enemies that attack rather than just doing damage on contact or shooting little circles. Multi-directional attacks to deal with things that buzz around your head. Making it so that solid objects can't move through each other and attacks make distance between things. I don't know, figure something out.

And why can't she attack when she's on a ladder? I can punch people while hanging off of ladders, and she's some kind of superhero, right?
