Are there so many racists on NG? Yeah, everyone can have their opinion, just like I have mine but the ignorance that comes forth is ridiculous! I understand that this flash hit a nerve with a lot of you, but you're supposed to rate it on its content. The debates (the intelligent ones anyway) are great to have but dammit, talk about the flash.
As a black woman, I found walrus' rather one-dimensional view racist. It's not chappellesque (new word!). In other words, it wasn't done with any insight. The graphics were cool and so was the sound but the content was too over the top. I myself didn't think Kanye should've necessarily used that venue to voice his opinion, but he should've emphasized the great demand of need. It's rather sad to see an over-generalization being exploited for a few laughs. It wouldn't have been so damn bad if you didn't portray him as a "coon".
Oh, for all the racists out there, please realize that slavery ended about 150 years ago and that we're only 1-2 generations out of the civil rights movement. Not every black person wants reparations or dwells on slavery. Progress is a slow creature and the true intent of the civil rights movement may take more generations to come into realization. If you're racist and you like it, do you. It doesn't bother me any b/c you don't mean anything to me. ...And now off my soapbox!
Summary of the above: I just didn't find it funny man. you've made better flashes than this but don't get discouraged from by negative reviews.
Thanks for the review, I'm glad you wrote it. Comedy has always been about exaggerating the truth, so that's what I did. If the Hurricane hit a bunch of rednecks, I would have done something on that.
