Reviews for "Tinman"

uhhh...

It seems like the same sort of thing as this:

h t t p : / /w w w.d e s p a i r . c o m / h a p p y p r o d u c t . h t m l

(remove spaces)

As if that's what you were trying to make.

Brad

I checked out your link... and I remembered having seen More a long time ago.

Now that you mentioned it they are similar pieces, but while (if I remember correctly) the charater in More escapes his desparate existance by building a hallucinigenic-like device and creates a world dependant on his technology, here it's just a robot who wants to know what it's like to have emotion and winds up rather dissatisfied with the results.

Thanks for reviewing!

good and bad

I liked everyhting about it except for the idea, which Ive seen featured in soooo sooo sooo many movies and tv shows.

When i think about it the whole story is bullshit becuase for a robot to want to feel emotions is an emotion.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Heh heh...
Yeah, apparently it is an all too common concept.

Thanks for reviewing.

A good movie, but kinda' cliche.

It had a cool idea behind it with the robot wanting to feel emotion, and the colors and music gave a sort of melancholy feel to it, but the idea has been used too many times before.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Yes, so I've heard. Heh heh. ^_^
That's okay; I understand your complaint & I apprieciate the thoughtful feedback. I'm glad you thought the idea, color scheme and music worked.

Thanks for reviewing.

this was.......

let me think for a sec.....ok im done. this was a waste of time. i dont give ashit about some damn robot that wants a heart. what was he a tryout for the tinman in the wizard of oz that didnt make it. WHAT A LOSER. graphics were good but music sucked and so did the story make sumthin better.

(")")so says the bunny

BlackmarketKraig responds:

Well, I don't think I can argue with a bunny...

ehhh

You see, I've seen too many of these "robots have feelings" things hit the front page. And the thing is, robots wouldn't have feelings unless their creator programmed them that way. They wouldn't feel like they were missing something, because this would mean that they felt lonely, which would imply emotion, which they cannot have. This would have been a lot deeper if you took a half cow/human mutant and examined what kind of life they would live (scientists did succesfully plant a human cell nucleus into a cow's egg, and it actually started to grow, but they terminated it because of all the human/animal rights laws). So yeah, good but robots are rutheless killing machines, not emo-crap cry babies. Sorry to burst your bubble.

BlackmarketKraig responds:

I guess Tom likes them...

It's hard to say with any certainty what would or would not happen in a complex artificial brain. I'm not an engineer, but it seems to me that if life as complicated as a manatee or an ostrich or a human being can come from random proteins and a spark, than perhaps with the proper input an artificial intelligence could develop a need to understand itself, perhaps even it's own emotions.

What are we but a preset of genetic material and the input of our lives and influences have imprinted on it? How did we become a bunch of emo-crap cry babies?

But honestly, it's just fantasy and my bubble was bust a long time ago.
