Though this cartoon is good enough for DVD, as you are putting it on. This cartoon is not for everyone, if you don't think its good people, don't say meaningless insults toward it. Most of the people who say things like that do not understand what it takes to create an animation like that. I applaud everyone involved in making this.

Another Decent Submission
For those interested, I think the purpose of this episode is to outline Kamimura's fall from religion (much like Oran's, and Raimi's from his pseudo-religion, programming).
The purpose of the quotes at the beginning are to explain Kamimura's ideals. Simply put, in his position as a priest and as a person, he feels he must keep his promises. On top of that, there is the allure of the box. It's a symbol of his dedication to people more than church, and also somewhat of an allusion to 'Pandora's Box', which I expect will figure prominently in the plot later on.
