I enjoyed it... great work.
The beginning really intrigued me.. it was all spooky, interesting, heart pumping and realistic. Then i saw your animation of ppl. It did tone down the tune a little, the people looked so unrealistic that it kind of took my thoughts away from the story. Now, of course, i have seen worse, but practice would help some.
There was nothing unique about the animation or sound choices. However, the story was original. The storyline was all jumbled up and quite confusing, which i am sure you were trying to accomplish to some extent. However, it got to a point that almost annoyed me.
Where the 'blue' screen popped up with the beeping, at that moment, i was thinking 'Great Ending!'.... then i realized... it was not the ending. At that moment i thought it was all about his subconcious expressing his views of his life (and life in general) right before his death. I thought you were trying to portray the individual experience of the 'death bed'... but then the extra written part at the end said that he lived on etc. So i was quite confused. I watched it again and truly think i have figured it out now (probably not lol). I had to really focus though. However, some parts i still do not see how they tie in... i almost feel as if you threw them in there for the hell of it. ALthough , i am sure that every part does have a meaning somehow.
The emotion was not there. Nothing was there, it took so much of my focus to understand it, that i got lost in my thoughts and not in your movie. Yes, i love a film that makes you think and that makes you see a new light on things. However, there is a line i think you crossed. It is too confusing, too hard to understand.
I will say the originality, concept and overall portrayal of it was quite good. I honestly think your graphics were not suitable for the concept. However, i would like to note that, the second time around, the music did have a better affect. Your audio choice was actually quite good for most parts.
The introduction style of all the darkness was quite cool. I wanted to note that before i forget. It had a certain aura about it. It really set the mood at the beginning, which is good. However, you did not get into it quite quick enough. You could have captured my attention faster.
What ever happened to the daughter? Is that what the deleted scene is about? I will check back to see it... when will it be posted by?
Overall, it was a great movie. Do not get me wrong... i just love to critique. I had to watch it twice though which annoyed me a little. However, your graphics were not bad... the storyline was quite good. It was very original and made me think. The overall idea... was not as i expected once i figured it out. However, i did enjoy it.
Good luck to you... you have room to imporve, but great job. It was a VERY good flash.

[sigh] yeah I guess I do need some practice drawing characters.
The idea of that being a dream is very cool! Originally I didn’t plan the events to be part of a dream, but why the heck not, actually, I like that plot more than the original one! Because really the flash is inspired by dreams and nightmares anyway.
Some parts were a little bit out of the blue (or ‘red’ in the case of this movie) and I myself can’t really understand, for example the handsaw part.. but really those parts make people reflect on them a bit and sometimes awaken deeper thoughts, I know because that happens to me when I see the movie myself
The movie is both ‘full of emotion’ and ‘totally emotionless’ and that depends on how you look at it, combining opposites is the major factor of most of my art :)
The movie was quite long so I didn’t want to ‘energize’ people too early in the movie, the introduction was somewhat slow, but it fits with the rest of it, I think a faster introduction wouldn’t go with a slow movie, but that’s just me. I’m sure you have a good point in saying that, so I’ll note that in mind :)
Haha I love to critique too, and I don’t mind criticism as long as it is nice and justifying. Criticism is very helpful you know :)
